Well, i picked up the GTS yesterday. Firstly - the handover from Leicester OPC was the most pleasurable and welcoming experience i have ever had of buying from a dealer. Nothing was too much trouble (i did cock them about a couple of times - mainly changing dates to pick the car up, and canceling the colour-coding it was booked in for). Even though i knew how 99% of the car worked - they wouldn't let me leave untill they had been through EVERYTHING hehe . Top marks all round to Leicester.

Ok, the car - sooooooo glad i stuck to my guns and went manual. The gear box is a dream, so refined, smooth and accurate. Much different to the box in the GT3 which is shorter and noticeably tighter - all in a good way though. The clutch is feather-light compared to the heaviness of the GT3 too. I'm tempted to have the short-shift fitted?

I managed to do 100 miles on varying roads, and i can honestly say the GTS is as near to perfect as i could imagine a ROAD sports car to be. So refined and comfortable through the City, but once you get into the country and press the Sport-button, the car just knuckles down and sticks to tarmac - it seems to give more confidence than driving the GT3, which on my usual route which included some pretty dire road surfaces, used to skip and bounce - more then often the wheels used to leave the tarmac.

Noise - i do miss the roar of the Metzger engine once that needle passes 3krpm - there is NO substitute. The GTS at *low* revs sounds imho better than the GT3, it's only when pushing on that the GT3 wins hands down in the sound competition.

Speed - the GTS hits that redline far too quick. I'm used to going to 8500rpm - its amazing what difference taking away 1000rpm does frown

Comfort - the GTS hands down for me is the most satisfying of the two to drive on our roads - the standard seats are absolutely superb. I don't miss the buckets yet - very, very supportive , but a bit too much for daily use.

Both cars are brilliant, but totally different to each other. I do miss the GT3 on days like today when the roads are dry and you can pick a decent route to go for a full-on blast, but the car really does need to be tracked to appreciate why it's one of the best cars Porsche has ever produced. I do honestly now regret not tracking her. I never saw the best of that car. Certainly glad i scratched that itch though, and i have zero regrets. I'm now thinking of buying a 6GT3 in the near future and having some track tuition. Another itch that HAS to be scratched.

In summary - it's like comparing jeans to shorts. Neither is better, they both do the job they are designed for... brilliantly smile

Nice one, Cyril.

Maybe see you around our roads over the weekend.... ( in my rear view mirror, obviously smile )

So, why did you cancel the colour coding?
The consol would've looked fantastic.

More importantly - how's the seat height?

I assume you meant 1000 rpm lower redline?

Also to add to the above. I'm not sure if it's because the brakes are brand new and need bedding in on the GTS, but the difference is night and day vs the PCCB's. I wish i had them on the GTS. Them ceramics are beginning to look a bargain at £5.5k imho scratchchin

anyhoo - off for a blast byebye

Phooey, have you done the unplugging of the exhaust wiring? If not, do so because the car will sound quite a lot better that way. Takes 30 seconds and it does away with the drive-by reg claptrap.

Hi Phooey

The Gt3 I've just bought has been swapped to a GTS PDK which arrives hopefully on Tuesday. Dealer has been very good in dealing with my situation and I'm now looking forward to blasting around in a GTS.

Its in Guards Red

Pioneer bought the GR GT3 recently.

Not sure we have heard much from him since?
