Absolutely gutted - Check out 993 classifieds and you will see my dream car!!
Have seen this car many times over the years at various Porsche shows and have always promised myself that one day it would be mine all mine..
'
Sods law sold my last big money car and paid off the 'ball and chain' around the house thus reducing my car slosh fund and up she pops for sale..

A lot of money one might argue but it is very rare, totally brand new in condition and IMO compared with recent 'leggy' 993 RS prices, comparatively cheap!!

God I hate being poor...

It's nice, but you'd never drive the thing as you'd reduce it's value with every mile you put on the odometer. I'd rather buy the same model with more miles that was cheaper, then drive the @rse off it!

It was about £120k brand new.

I doubt there is another car like it (C16, Such Low Miles, S)

Awesome car.

993 Turbo S is achingly beautiful but i'd find it difficult to let £130k go on this S over £120k for a brand new one that handles properly and hits 100mph in 6.8 secs. In fact I'd rather shell out £65-75k on a 2007/2008 car!

Prices aside, the newer car is of course more capable (it had better be), but the old one is much more satisfying to drive. I cannot think of anything about the new car that the old car really needs, bar the headlamps.
The new car has great competence but scant character. The old car has enough competence and a lot of character.

I tried to buy it maybe 2 years ago but instead got a new 997 RS. Mistake - Even though an awsome car in all departments something for me was missing, enduring feeling of quality, looks and other subconcious things..

It is a lot of money but I still think it represents relative value when compared to 993 Rs's.... Jesus think I may re-mortgage.

Am I the only one who's:

A. Completely underwhelmed by it?

B. Thinking of so many better ways of spending 130k?

No you're not. What's with the shiny wheels, and yellow belts?

old car sounds better and is much easier on the eye . it does have lots of character with funny floor hinged offset peddles and general old fashioned feel.

I disagree new car has scant character. It has 500+ horse power and handles. Had a go and thought it was great fun IMO. It has lots more going for it than simply better head lamps than a 993!!!

Every new 911 is generally better than the last and the current car is a perfect example of this ethos. In some peoples eyes perhaps too perfect but personally I love technology and progress.

Having said that I'd love to have a gaggle of older cars in my garage but unfortunately can only afford to run two cars. If finances allow I will buy an old Porsche one day but a 993 t S would not be top of my list. A simple 1988 3.2 Carrera or 964 C2 would be in my garage before the 993 t S money no object. Even started staring at old targas for those summer days!!.

that is a thing of beauty, but I would rather have a brand new 997GT3RS and 10k in the bank.

Chromeline finish unique to the turbo 's' and the yellow belts, well they just match the brakes!

It's a lovely looking car no doubt, and a collector would buy it but as an everyday car the new turbo would make more sense, to buy it and then slap 40k on it in 2-3 years would ruin the appeal of a low mileage limited edition.

preferred the black S for sale a year ago

having said that, I wouldn't have one even at 50-60k

doesn't really interest me much as a car to drive/own

All you need to do is to open and then shut the door of the 997, and then open and shut the door of the 993. That will settle the matter.

RS is intended for a completely different purpose.
The only point of comparison, I would suggest, is value for money.
This particular T-S is laughably overpriced. I'd guess that the market for a T-S with "normal" mileage for a 12 YO Porsche (75k?) is more like £65k.
At that price relative to the RS's, I'd expect the RS to depreciate at a faster rate.

Jonny just get it bought. A ridiculous some of money but so what it is only money. Today it may seem expensive but tomorrow it may seem cheap.

But, if you were actually going to drive it, why would you pay at least a £50k premium for low miles?
And if you were not actually going to drive it, why get such a practical car, rather than a garage queen?
