How hard can this be!

Hi All,
First & foremost - I am posting this for 'a smile' not for any information (p.m. me if you wish)
The Task - to find & remove my 'Trackstar' tracker unit to qualify for the Porsche warranty. The OPC said that the beeps from my car when the ignition is on are not 'Porsche Beeps' 3 long, 2 short beeps.
Day 1 - Found it - Navtrak unit, aerial & gps anntenna.
Day 2 - Car still Beeps! (and no - it's not the horn)
Day 3 - I then realise that my tracker unit is a Trackstar and not the Navtrak unit I removed - search again!
Day 4 - Dismantle most of interior & can I hell as like find it!
Day 5 - Dismantle more of the interior - still no luck!
Porsche is now in bits! I always toyed with a kit car!

You're doing all this in order to purchase a warranty?!
I wouldn't even change my Halfords battery never mind take my car apart to find tracker parts. I presume you know that tracker parts are placed specifically in areas that nobody would look so that they can't strip the car for parts. So this going to be one hell of a task you've set about.
Why not take out one with WarrantyWise?

I just dont get this???
Trackers are fitted for security either at the request of the insurer or just because the owner wants one for peace of mind.
As I understand it Porsche do not supply tracker modules or the enabling systems to support tracking.
So why on earth should Porsche demand that you make your vehicle less secure so that they can give you a mechanical warranty.
When it gets stolen, will they find it for you or give you a new one? - Of course not!

If you have a Halfords battery in it that's why you need a WarrentyWise warranty I wouldn't even change my Halfords battery never mind take my car apart to find tracker parts. I presume you know that tracker parts are placed specifically in areas that nobody would look so that they can't strip the car for parts. So this going to be one hell of a task you've set about.

Annoying but not that stupid. Porsche (as we know) have decided that their warranty is not buyable/applicable if your car has non-porsche mods. It's just a simple choice that the OP has made- remove the non-porsche bits and buy the warranty. Hi,
I know there appears little logic to my Porsche Warranty / Tracker removal. I have only owned the 996 TT since Feb, 30,000 miles, FPSH and has always had a Porsche approved warranty since birth. I suppose I just want peace of mind until I know the 996 TT better. I do have options (and all is still not decided), but the rules from Porsche (not matter how hard to swallow) are the rules. As an aside my insurers discount the 996 TT by £108 for having the tracker - the annual subs for the tracker were £144 - so a saving already! Aside from not wanting to lose one's P&J, trackers are essentially there for insurance companies and yet in my circumstances had no or little financial incentive .
Just thought of another hiding place - back soon.

You must be kidding! Theyre fitted where its easiest and theyre usually very easy to find. I wouldn't even change my Halfords battery never mind take my car apart to find tracker parts. To the OP: you could consider a cheap novelty GSM detector. WHen the unit poles you should be able to point directly to it. One other thought, if youve looked behind the dashboard properly, then had you considered removing the door cars? Its a terrible place but Ive seen a few in there!
Just reading this out of interest and thought I'd risk stating the obvious...
Perhaps it's not sensible to be discussing on an open forum the possible location of a Tracker module in a Porsche? If anyone wants to suggest to the OP where the Tracker might be hidden, maybe they should contact the OP directly?
Edited to add that the OP did state in his opening post '...not for any information. Please PM me if you wish...' due to the obvious implications of everyone revealing where their Tracker module is hidden.

They can offer it to whoever they wish: and equally not offer it to whoever they wish. It is the desirability of their warranty which has led them to making these foolish decisions, because they see an opportunity to use their desirable product as a way of generating revenue and retaining business in a bloody-minded fashion.
Because this is continuation warranty they really can ps off whom ever they please.
