Has anyone superchargerd their 968 Sport or Club Sport? I've got a Sport and I'm thinking about doing it in the future and just wondered if its worth doing? What do they go like? The car is fabulous as it is but I would like to have more power.
To do it properly will coat big bucks, fancied a 968 with turbo myself but it was a lot of work and hassle.Edited by blade7 on Monday 17th August 14:45
Theres a red supercharged CS in the classified section of pistonheads.
9 Miester in Warrington are the specialists of this and have been doing the conversion for years.
I agree that the power delivery is not what 968 owners are used to.
If i were doing this, i would probably build a hybrid 944 turbo (2.7/3.0) Turbo charged lump.
Would be very costly though.

Talk to 9Meister - they supercharged a 968 a while ago...we tested it while doing a Total 911 993 feature and it was the quickest car on the day...I seem to remember it matched Colin's 993 race car for acceleration
Wow! I did read somewhere ages ago that they were seriously quick when supercharged (around 4secs to 60mph). But combined with the handling and balance very little machinery would touch it. I think it gives it around 350bhp but I'm not sure. I do fancy the idea though!I've seen that s/charged yellow 968CS at Castle Combe(with the Turbo S rear spolier!) and its a properly sorted quick car i can tell theee..
Chatted with the owner ages ago and he was on about selling for the right money, def a tempting car for road & track altho was talking big bucks.

Someone has made this kit in the states, sound like a great business making it!

for similar money:
single mass flywheel
decoke
cleaned injectors
uprated fuel pump
valve seats
custom chip
intake mods
exact cam timing
big reds or M030
M030 arbs
KW clubsport/GAZ emc setup
cage & lightened interior
etc etc..
and personally I reckon you'll have a car that wil not only monster a supercharged car but be far more exact and satisfying to drive
But then that's me. I much prefer NA in any car and reckon a fair percentage of the extra BHP you get will be lost to poorer driveability, lag etc... If you want to go faster, driver followed by tyres, followed by geometry followed by dampers etc.. As always, power comes last.
But if its just a road car I can understand how you just lust after a proper 300bhp+ thump in the back.

Lag? With a supercharger? Eh??But then that's me. I much prefer NA in any car and reckon a fair percentage of the extra BHP you get will be lost to poorer driveability, lag etc... I've just had an old Speed Force Racing kit fitted to my car (it's an S2 engine, not a 968), it's very early days as it was completed just last week but so far it is going well with only some small teething issues after its first trackday.
The perceived power gain is very worthwhile and the delivery seems perfect to me, at low rpms it's as before (which is ample anyway and should help preserve the gearbox) but above about 2.5k-3k the boost grows very quickly and rises throughout the rev range.
I'm enjoying my car even more than before, and that's saying something!
