Porsche PCM Systems - Versions And Software
Discussion
Apologies for asking a question which I am sure has been asked many times before, but can anybody advise on how to identify the various PCM systems?
I am a proud owner of an October 2003 Cayenne S (it was my choice and I love it) but I want to update the maps on the PCM system (CD based not DVD). I have had zero help from my local Porsche garage and they cannot offer me any update on the system but have sourced some other locations which will sell me updated software.
However, I have no wish to purchase new discs only to find they do not work. How can I identify idf it is a PCM version 1 or 2? and also if it needs any additional software to allow me to use updated discs?
I have sourced someone in Bulgaria who is selling 2008 disc sets for $50 - too good to be true?

Just contacted Porsche. £350 for the full set of discs. Can only get a full set!!
Looked on the internet and found the following contact:
"If anyone else is interested Gil Keane can be contacted on 0121 773 7000 or 07973 216682 or via modern day electronic-mail @
enquiries@bettercarlighting.co.uk"
He is ringing me back tomorrow. They can get a up to date disc at £150 so I have read.

If you press main and trip at the same time it will tell you what version you have. I had a similar query a few months back and someone posted up that this was how to do it (and it is, which is nice).
If you find out a source for updated discs I'd be interested as I have an 03 Boxster S with a very scratched nav disc that refuses to work 99% of the time.

You want CD3 of the 8-disk 08.2007 maps, not CD4.

Well I got my 8 discs delivered today from Romania.
Hower I am currently in the US and my wife is not very technically minded so I cannot confirm if they work. If they do then it will be well woth the $50 I paid for them.

Im in a similiar position to what you were, just got my 2003 Cayenne Turbo and want to update the maps on the PCM 2 system. Can you tell me who it was you got the disks from?
Thanks
