He comes across as a bit of a miserable old sod, so don't expect a fluffy customer friendly experience.

However stick with it, in my experience he knows his stuff. I have noticed that he doesn't tend to work on a menu-priced basis, but this is probably fair enough on older cars.

A friend of ours swears by him, and will only use him for her 964 and 996.

Did some fuel pipe work on my 964 turbo.
+ did the job
+ have met several happy customers of theirs who swear by them.
- charged me for a full day's labour but the job was shorter.
- miserable as stated above.
- The other guy Greg gave me bullsh** about my car where he clearly didn't know as much. (you cannot remap a 965)
- no courtesy car option.
- wouldn't give me a PCGB (10%) discount on the expensive pipes. Gave me a sob story about needing to make their profit.

Can't say I'm overly keen, took my Clubsport there to get my big red Calipers Re-done Red (£300) left it with him got a call the next day can't do them for £300 they need totally refurbing Blah, Blah blah, to be fair they were black and a bit on the shabby side but he's AD doesn't say what state they have to be in so what does he do to them for £300?

For naming and shaming rules, we need to keep negative feedback off forum as much as possible please. It does make a mockery of 'what do you think of so and so' posts, but legally it is the only way for pistonheads to operate.

If you have positive feedback, please post.

If you have negative feedback, feel free to ask people to PM you through your profile for further info.

Soz! I don't make the rules, honest. But the system works (sort of). The feedback can be a lot rawer at The Firkin and Ferret on a Sunday Porsche meet as the beer is flying and the lawyers aren't watching.

Peter Tognola knows his stuff. Yes he is a miserable sod but the quality of his work is good.

Re former comment , surley u wud prefer a call to say calipers in worse state than average need more work than just get a bill for extra work ?

Has done severeal sets for over some time , all smaller 993, removed, repainted inc lettering and reattached ,bled .........for less than £300, including one red set so hard worn they were almost brown and yellow from heat!

As for no courtesy car , horses for courses Mate , hes not the largest Inde in the world and is 200 yds from Station ..........

imo 'Miserable ol Gits' value is his experience, he was there ,working on the older cars '1st time round'and his attention to detail ........i live too far away to use him regularly now ,but when i have he has always come up with the phone call having found some VALID detail that needs sorting asking should he ? as for Greg and BS he does speak a foriegn language but if u were to inspect one of the replicas hes built i suggest he also has an in depth knowledge but above all a love for the marque ...............perhaps my earlier response was too short and precise ?

never had any problems with pete or greg. Always managed to fit me in when disaster struck. Just go there and look at the many 100k plus classic porkers gracing thier forecourt and you will get the picture that ppl trust them. I actually paid for thier newley surfaced drive stooopid cars wink

Pete did a gearbox rebuild (syncro rings) & clutch change for me on my '86 911 about 11 years ago. He dropped me off at Slough station and picked me up again when the car was ready for collection - he did a first class job which cost me ~£1k when the OPC wanted over £3k !!

He's been in business a long time and as far as Indy's go he as good as they come.

I've been using him for out of warranty stuff on my C2 and GT2 for 4 years with no issues. I prefer the 'miserable old sod'-'tell it like it is' type of character rather than the estate agent types you have to deal with at an OPC. Both Pete and Greg seem to know their stuff and have a genuine interest in Porsches.

Peter Tognola is an 'old school' engineer, from that rare and dying breed of engineer that actually thinks about a solution and a cause of fault, before simply ordering a new part to see if it fixes the problem. I think he has been at his current location for about 25+ years (when Datchet was no doubt surrounded by fields !), he was working on early 911's in the 70's and has first had knowledge of how pre-impact cars were like when new. Has kept up with technology and product developments and has all the dianostic equipment for the newer water-cooled pork. We use them for warranty work and pre-purchase inspections in North West London area and afar. Andrew, Gmund Cars.

Drove over from Bristol for some post-purchase remedial work on my 993TT - essentially got them to resolve all the little things that showed up in Peter Morgan's PPR. Knowledge was high and all work just fine and done on time. Didn't think Peter was miserable - he took the time to show me round some of the rather exotic Porkers they have there - never seen such an array or interesting cars in one place at an indie dealer. I've only been there once but I'd use them again. I just a got a taxi to and from the station and used the train - no big deal - I have an old daily driver however so that makes things easier.

Positive from me as well, always been able to help at short notice with minor issues and regular servicing, doesn't make stuff up that needs fixing.

It's always interesting to see what is on the ramps, often 993 and even 964rs through to cooking cars like mine and GT2 / GT3s.

I've used Pete for 10 years on race 911's and road cars - top bloke, dead straight, knows everything, full set of spanners............and you couldn't get a nicer or more helpful sidekick than Greg, although I'm sure he'd defer to Pete's greater experience on the real A-level stuff.
