Any help would be much appreciated…..

Is this the clutch? or could it be the actuator? or the cylinder?

Ok as you can tell from the above line I like to think I know about cars but I probably know F%*% all!! Lol

It’s a 2002 C2 996 face lift 41000 mile

I was driving last night for about 10 mins in traffic and then I pulled on to the duel carriageway and gave it a little bit of gas in 2nd not too much about 5000 rpm went to change up into 3rd and the clutch pedal went very light. It went into 3rd but the power was not being transferred properly. Literally only 5% is going through to the drive train.

The pedal has remained very light I managed to drive it back home. The engine will rev but 95% of the power is lost. All gears can be selected and the bite point hasn’t changed it is still in the middle of the clutch travel (although the bite dosent feel like its there anymore)

The clutch has never kangaroo’d me down the road (although I have only had the car for 2 ½ months – 1000 miles)

Any thought on this would be appreciated

I don’t want to go to a dealer (sorry I mean stealer!!) and I have spoken to JZM and they cant look at it until the 28th, so if any of you can point me in the right direction of a good independent that would also be appreciated

If the clutch is slipping, i.e. revs rising but speedo not so much, then its probably clutch, these tend to wear progressively so you may have a failure of the actuator.

either way you have to go to a garage asap, indie would be cheaper.

Yup, get it to us whenever you can, or we can recover it at approx a pound a mile. Our labour rate vs main dealer should cover that expense anyway. Booked up next week, but we can do a few days earlier than JZM as we can fit you in on the 25th. Apologies to myself and Daz for a commercial post, but Ciro did shine the fern sign over Gotham city. wink

hi ya, thanks for the insight, but i live in watford and the round trip would be a 120 miles, ok so the recovery cost would still make it cheaper but then my travel to collect would make it a nightmare!!

thanks anyway for your help!

I thought on porsche because they are hydraulically activated then they do go from good to bad in just a few shifts?

Plate wear is just like any other car, rob's sounded like something had broken because of the sudden change in the clutch.

Anyway i am sure rob will update us when he finds a garage
