My best friend needs a Heater Control Unit for his 964 Targa (non aircon). He's been quoted about £800 for a new unit which is a bit lumpy. Has anyone got a secondhand one as his feet are starting to get bloody warm. Apparently you can get them for £350 but I'm not sure where from. Thanks

I have a similar problem in my 968.

On the front of the 968 engine there's a small vacuum valve that allows hot water from the engine into a heater matrix that then heats the air going into the cabin. My temporary solution has been to use a cable tie to hold the valve in and so stop the water flow, so stop the air getting warmed.

Although now I've typed that, I've engaged my brain, and realise that an aircooled engine must be slightly different. I presume there must be a similar valve somewhere controlling a water flow into a heater somewhere...?

Sorry - I suspect I've been rather less use than I'd hoped when I hit "reply to topic"...

There is a guy in Italy who rebuilds them on an exchange basis. Mauro Macedonio, email mauro@accinni.com
I've got a non operational one if you want to use this to exchange.

I'm sure even Porsche do them on an exchange basis for half your £800.
