went to look at a boxster s over the weekend , sounded great in the advert in auto trader one owner fpsh 35k 2003 £21500 just what i was looking for, spoke to a rather grand lady saying she was selling it for her brother who was relocated abroad she says it must be seen, so off we go, turns out he wasbanged up at her majestys pleasure the car was tatty, with a secound hand engine put in in 2003, im still looking
I hear this all the time from customers who have had wasted trips elsewhere - a shame but makes them keener to deal with me when they turn up and find the car is "as described" or frequently thought of as better than expected.
That aside, I'm curious to know why a 2003 car had a second hand engine fitted in 2003?

I went to see loads of Boxsters before i bought mine, i learned many lessons along the way, one being that cars which looked "mint" in photographs ended up being junk. I went to look at a speed yellow car at a sort of car supermarket place it looked stunning in the pics so we set off on a 300 n odd mile trip only for the salesman not to even bother coming over to us (no wonder mind on the phone he told us the car was concourse etc) oil p*ssing out the bottom end of the engine, curbed to death wheels, panels scratched to bits, window switch missing and it only had 23,000 miles haha. I was gutted after such a long journey. I eventually found my car which i have to say looked dead honest when i went to see it no new tyres or having just been washed..could really tell how the car had been driven etc.
