pre-74 RHD carrera rs spotted in Chiswick
Discussion
I was just coming out of the driving range at dukes meadows and was stopped in my tracks as my dream car sat there in all its glory.
I've seen quite a few replicas in my time, but this was an original. It was white with blue interior, but I'm sorry to say that it was in quite a nasty state. Cracks in the paint, dents on the doors and to top it all off... MASKING TAPE all over the front of the bonnet. It also had one of its front vents completely missing. A sad scene.
If you're on here and you're fed up with it.... get in touch!

They didn't make any RSs in 1974, only '72/'73.
More likely to be a replica, it can be very difficult to tell.
A genuine RS in poor condition is a bit of a 'Curate's Egg'. There is only one way to restore it, and that is properly, using the best specialist expertise and the correct original parts. The trouble is, it's a lot of work, takes a lot of time and costs a lot of money -£50k +++.
Be interesting to know more about it though.

Do you have doubts, it was suggested to me it was the one by Agentorange,,,who certainly knows a bit about RS 3.0....having once been a member of that very exclusive club
Dam this interweb you have found it I was hoping no one noticed and I could slip in and buy it.
Last time i talked to anyone about it Joe wanted north of £250K for it, this now looks low.It is an un restored car and looks better for it.
Great colour great history

Your forgetting one important fact...............It was out on the road, being used as it was intended, sure it sounds rough but I bet the owner drives it properly without fear of stone chips too.
I think theres something endearing about honest well used super valuable cars.

Hi Vic,Take your point on the paint condition but personaly I like the fact its never been touched it is what it is looking at the red car that just sold it sugests Joe is holding an asset that is appreciating at a rediculus rate.
He also had the brown john fitzpatric RSR in storage for a punter and that was in a simmilar state again I wound never touch the paint however Im probably only the second person in the world who likes the colour.

A 3.0RS Replica would be simpler to build because it would be easier to convert the more readily available impact bumper shell.
Only 53 genuine 3.0RSs were built and 6 were rhd. This was to homologate the RSR, of which 42 were built.
The 3.0RS is apparently a fantastic drive, but IMO quite ugly compared with the 2.7RS and 2.8RSR.
Eoin Sloan had one for some years (sold through Edmund Harris when he acquired 2 BRX) and Peter Lovett has one.
Six years ago a 3.0RS would have been under £100k. In today's inflated market, who knows what the correct price should be
The Hesketh/Hunt/Bamford car will have additional kudos owing to its provenance.
Can't help feeling there's a bubble waiting to burst though
