I'm off to view a 996 in Chester tomorrow - anyone know if a decent indie that could do an inspection?

What is the general attitude of garages to taking time to take the car to another site for inspection? - reason I ask is that the garage that has the car is a regular 'general' car forecourt.

would anyone recommend just using the local OPC, and could anyone tell me how much are they likely to charge for their 111 point check?

Also - is it usual practice to make a conditional offer - i.e. I'll pay x subject to passing the PPI....

Ta in advance,

BERGS

Ninemeister in Warrington isn't far away. www.ninemeister.com/site/49.html

All you can do is ask the selling garage. If they won't take it to Ninemeister a dealership 111 point check would be better than nothing.

£199.75

can I get a warranty if all is good? -

does this mean that the ongoing basic servicing has to be main agent?

is the OPC warranty worth jack (dealer warrenty is 3 months but suspect this will be less robust..)

(its an April '02 with 29k miles, 4 OPC stamps and overdue a service (which i'll have done if it passes the PPI)

Hi Bergs.
I had a chat with my OPC the other day about the 111 point check, servicing and a warranty purchase. Without any pushing from me, they offered to do the check for nothing if I bought the warranty and had the service done with them. If you intend to service the car after the check, it may be worth asking what kind of deal they can do you. A free check will probably cover the difference between the OPC and indie service prices. With a bit of bargaining who nows what they may offer?

thanks for that -

will it matter if the car is late for it's service?

(I think it was due March this year - but has been at the dealer since then)

only done 3k miles since March '06 though....

Cheers

so will they basically warrant it for a year dependant on it passing their condition check?

I won't have to have it serviced right away in order to get the warranty?

ta in advance!

they will warrant it subject to it passing the 111 point inspection. if it doesn't pass, you will be informed why (along with a piece of paper showing what checks failed), and then you will have to get those failures remedied and it re-inspected etc.etc.

who you get to do the remedial work is entirely up to you.

Upon a successful inspection, you have 24hrs to purchase the warranty. Else you will need (yes, wait for it) another inspection.

Don't ask...
