Guys, Im looking at getting a Boxter 2.7 as a commuter car they seem to look genraly good value though lots of private cars look slightly over priced, anyone in the trade got any views on them? looking for full leather sports seats and aircon.
re relaiability are there any boxter specific issues that i would not know about(I have had a number of 996's so no mention of RMS please)
Any advice grately recived.

If you're used to a 996 then the only things I can think of to note with a Boxster is to make sure the hood works properly (sometimes there's a microswitch problem near the roof catch, but it can be more involved than this) and that the rear screen (if non-facelift) is OK. You'd be surprised how much they can be polished up and restored if cloudy but if it's getting old & brittle it'll cost up to £300 to replace if/when it needs it.
2002, 52 reg I think. There are other facelift differences too, but the easiest one to spot is the screen. Others are a glovebox and more prominent body colour vents in front of the rear wheels.
You can replace the plastic screen with a glass one but this is a conversion and will cost a lot more.

Go for the facelift. Not only did they get a better window but slightly uprated suspension settings also. I have just swapped my old 2.7 for a Ferrari 360 and actually miss the 2.7!
The steering on a Boxtster is fantastic and better than the 360 which is very direct but short on feel (!) and infinately better than a 996 C4 (I used to own) which had weird heaviness to it.
The Boxtser feels far more like the 993 C2 I used to own a few years back-now that was the best Porsche I ever owned (others include a 2.5 Boxtser, 968 and 944). After the 993, I would rank the 2.7 as the second best. The 996 and 944 were the least satisfying.
