Hi all

I have a 944s that has been well looked after going on the body and only have 4 owners to date, I bought the car as a seller on but have run into a few small snaggs wih it.
we serviced the car ie: plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, balance shaft belt and front and rear brakes. we did this in the hope it would sort out a few bugs but when we were done it still remains the same.
the car idles very irraticly when cold, i get a back fire when reving over 4k, a huge loss of power and so on, the pedal can be flat to the floor and still hardly anything goes on, when the pedal is depressed the car wants to die but when released the car the will idle once again, you can drive it but very slowly. I have hit a brick wall with this car now and am lost. any helpwould be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Damian

The erratic idle may be sorted out by cleaning the throttle body with carb cleaner...

Maybe running weak - backfire...

Would also suggest cold start valve, but not sure what set up it is. boxedin

Try to find an air leak from a perished inlet hose pipe or the plastic inlet pipe under the inlet manifold may be cracked or not sealed.

Try cleaning the electric contacts in the throttle body plug.

Thanks Guys will try this a.s.a.p and let you know the results.
I have also decided to change the timing belt on Saturday so i can eliminate that as a problem.
am i correct in saying the markings for the cam are TDC and the crank 2pm?
