I feel dirty..................................
Discussion
No not caught something unpleasant after a night out although nearly as bad.
Visited the national kit car show at Stoneleigh today as technical help for a friend who is after a Cobra.
There were Covin's there!!!!
What absolute heaps of cr@p they are close up, we followed one in which was turbo bodied, but the front wheels were about 8" inside the wheelarch, giving it the impression of being a slightly cross Jellyfish hovering along.
I had a good look around 3 of them and some of the classic points were:
A carrera 3.0 badge on a turbo bodied car.
Wheel spacers a mile wide.
Turbo gauges including revcounter with boost gauge on a non turbo xr3i engined heap, what does the boost gauge do? Detect body roll?
Body proportions that were frankly laughable.
But the scariest thing? Unlike most replica's eg. the MR2/Ferrari's they actually use a lot of genuine Porsche Parts to make the car, eg, front and rear lights, doors, interiors, instruments, glass, wheels, boot and bonnet, bumpers.
Having a look around them and weighing up the costs to build not including labour the build cost is easily 10K, all to have something that bears only a passing resemblance to a 911 to a blind man, doesn't handle, doesn't go, doesn't stop, plus the feeling of being a total cock when a mini metro beats you away from the lights, and looking a right tool when a real 911 parks next to you.............Oh and the fact no normal person would buy it when it's done...........You see I say normal person because I got to see that elusive breed today, the Covin owner, renowned for driving with face obscured by paper bag, and scurrying to cover as quickly as possible when parked......... I couldn't take a picture of one as they are far too timid but this is a close second.

^ Oi! You are out of order there my son
That is my sister and she does not own a Covin, but she does drive a Coal van ( easy mistake, happens all the time )
But seriously, I know what you mean. I have seen many Covins over the years but only a few were almost good and only fell short due to the fact that they were not actually a Porsche.
