After 1 month of engine rebuild, annoyingly the remote key doesn't work any more. This I'm sure is due to lack of use, but does anyone know the best way to get working again? Is it as simple as a new battery?

Sad, but want to stay on 1st page, so replying to my own topic.

Anyone lost power from key fob then?

The alarm shuts down after 5 days of non-use. You then need to un-lock the door with the metal key and before opening it press the alarm button a couple of times - it should open, then lock (or vice versa, I forget) the car and then it'll be working properly again.

If the problem you're having is different and the key button will not work at all, first check that the red LED lights on the key when you press it - if not first change the batteries, if it still doesn't come on then you have a problem with the key. If the LED does come on OK but the car doesn't respond you will need to get the key re-coded at an OPC or suitably equipped specialist (Mike at Sports & Classic can do it).

Technically correct, but perhaps better worded as "The remote central locking shuts down after five days".

1 - As mentioned the remote system on the car shuts down after about 5 days and you need to use the key and start the egine within 10 seconds to stop the larm going off.

2 - Could be remote battery.

3 - Could be the battery connection. Take the key apart and take the battery/ies out. Then push the two metal prongs that usually rest against the battery in a bit further so they push against the battery/ies once inserted.
