No Cups on my GT3
Discussion
When to see my GT3 before I take delivery on Saturday and noticed it didn't have Cups on it, I've been told that they specify a sports tyre but not that they will be Cups.
As far as I am concerned the car should have Cup tyres, especially since the Millbrook cars all have them.
What does everybody think?

Both the new 'N' spec 19" Cup and Corsa tyres were specifically developed in association with Porsche for the 997GT3.
The Cups were available very early in the development programme and the Corsas were approved later in 2006. I would imagine that the tyres have similar characteristics, but differing qualities.
Be interesting to know the pros and cons of each, but tyres are such a subjective issue, with so many areas of judgement, that it is probably impossible to say whether one is better than the other.

Porsche would not put all their eggs in one basket and rely on Michelin tyres only. What if Michelin decided to stop producing or suffered a problem in manufacture, Porsche would be held to providing tyres that cant be sourced.
Corsa or Cups, either tyre is high spec and will do the job required of it. Just because the Milbrook cars are fitted with them doesn't mean all GT3s will be suplied with em.

My OPC advised that GT3 would come with either cups or corsas, but they wouldn't know which tyre and weren't able to specify a preference. They have offered to swap tyres at the dealership if specifically wanted the option not fitted. So why not ask for them to change?
Otherwise in a few thousand miles you will probably be needed new tyres anyway.
