I'm in my first year of 993 ownership and it's time to get her booked in for a good servicing!

Having trawled the Web, 911 & Porsche World, Total 911 etc there does not appear to anywhere that jumps off the page for servicing in the Cambs, East Anglia area.

Any suggestions or reccomendations greatly appreciated.

Depending on how far you're prepared to travel, if it's an independent you're after, I took my 996 to Autostasse, based in Coggleshall in Essex, (just off the A12 before Colchester). They advertise in the main Porsche mags and came recommended to me. Tel no is 01376562922.

Yep - I'll second Autostrasse (no web site, but tel:01376 562922).

If you really don't want to go that far, Barr Tech also seem ok, but don't ultimately have the same depth of knowledge as Autostrasse.

Hi Martin,

I'm a 993 owner living just outside Cambridge and was also looking for a specialist.

I tried the Cambridge OPC first, but have to say I didn't get very good service there. I appreciate that a few guys on PH think they're great, but my experience with them was the opposite. I don't think they are really geared up for air-cooled anymore.

I've switched to JZ Machtech since and found them first rate. They really know their stuff, but it's a bit of a long haul. If you have to go to London at all then you can drop the car at JZM and get a train into town.

I did use Barr Tech for some body work and they were really good, but they are not really a Porsche specialist.

PM me if you want to tag along with our 993 convoy (3 993's in my village) to the monthly PH Porsche breakfast at the Ace Cafe.

Cheers

Marc
