Silverstone Classic – 27-29th July 2007
Porsche Club will have a prominent exhibiting position at the Silverstone Classic event taking place 27-29th
July. We will be working with Motorsport, register secretaries, and the concours committee over the
coming months to create our ‘Porsche Club Village’ for the benefit of our members. Further information and
updates about the event will be published in Porsche Post.
Motorsport & Track Day:
Steve will be taking a practice session on Friday, and two race times offered by Silverstone on Saturday
and Sunday; he will advise us about these in due course. Motorsport will be holding a track day on the
National Circuit on Monday 30th July, so get your bookings in fast with Paul and Steve, as places are
bound to be sold very quickly.
Displays, Tickets and Saturday pm entertainment:
We will plan the display area around the Birthday Registers (956/911S/928/944/964RS/996), and
classics (356/early 911).
We are waiting for information about special vouchers for Members who wish to attend the Saturday
evening entertainment at Scarf and Goggles; we’ll let you know about this as soon as we do!
Parade Laps:
We have confirmed with Silverstone that the birthday display cars will be able to take part in a parade lap at
lunch time on each day, the details of which are to be finalised, but you will probably enter the circuit near
Copse corner.
Non display cars:
Members attending who are not in the display area will have designated ‘Porsche Club Parking’ at the rear
of Woodcote Grandstands, where secondary displays might be arranged by register, region, or other
formats.
Concours:
We are delighted that Phil and the concours committee have moved forward. He will give details at the
Workers’ Conference in March, and may use Silverstone as a venue to pilot some new concours ideas, and
for the preliminary rounds of Street, Classic and Contemporary, leading upto the finals at Ragley Hall on 9th
September.
Porsche Cars:
Porsche Cars will be providing the course cars for Silverstone, and a 4x4 Cayenne experience area; their
sign on for the Cayenne experience may be based in the Porsche Club Village with a display of Cayennes.
PC Silverstone may attend too, but we are waiting for confirmation about this.
Sponsors:
We have quite a large area for the Porsche Club Village, so some of our very special sponsors, and regular
supporters may join us. They may support us with supply of free coffee for the members only hospitality
area, Porsche related attractions etc.
Driving Challenge:
We may hold a driver challenge in the area, and will confirm this in due course.

Melv, the communication in your post mentions booking the Monday 30th trackday early as places are bound to go quickly.
I enquired about that a couple of months ago and PCGB said it was only for early cars, 1970's and earlier, any idea if that has changed??......seems unlikely that a PCGB communication could be ever so slightly spurious?

Correct. But if spaces not taken, day will be opened up for later cars.
It'll give you a chance to overtake something Paul

Yes, perhaps one day Melv, I live in hope
So Correct, it is for earlier cars and not the usual PCGB trackday as advertised, before we get into the If's & but's.
From latest PP:-
...the Silverstone day on July 30 will be for pre-1974 cars. The level of booking has been very good and we are hoping this day will appeal to those members who own pre-'74 Porsches, but perhaps do not normally venture on track with them........As with other model or Register specific days......we reserve the right to take bookings from Club members with other model types, if these days are undersubscribed
