Just saw this on the classifieds and it must be one of the best priced 997s out there at the moment and i do recall that 302111?? also sold his Red 997 for £45500 to RealBoysToys if i remember correctly - I kind of feel sorry for the private/OPC guys still looking for upto £44-49k for there 2003/04 C4S's.

Question is what do you go for? I have found a 2003 C4s with 16k miles at £41k and have also noticed the odd TT at under £42K BUT i have to admit i would defineatly go for the newer model(997) if they are going to start appearing at low fortys.

May i add i have not called this guy so i dont know if it has any issues or if its even an LHD but i think it is a genuine UK 997.

Price sounds about right for a private sale. 997's shed £15k - £20k in their first year.

Sounds like someone might have to change their login name.

Its a 2004, fairly low spec and the 20k service is round the corner. Also, its a non-S version.

However, a good car for someone.

Agree Erik on spec but my point was what kind of effect are these type of 997 prices going to have on the late 996's that i assume people paid a fortune for 12 months ago - I agree that there will always be purists and 993 Turbo prices have confirmed that but surely with the amount of 996s out there at the moment, this price is going to be the benchmark of things to come and makes me think that the £41k 2003 C4s i am looking at may not be such a bargain afterall.

I reckon the 996TT would have done the majority of it's depreciating. The 997 and certainly the C4S won't have.

Well, for that money a GT3 is a better car in a million ways UNLESS you need the rear seats for child carrying duties. However, it will have a lovely interior and they do look great.

If I was looking for a non-GT3 na 911, I could never see the point in spending more than £33-35k (notwithstanding need to carry kids in back). Anywhere near £40k+ is GT3 or 993TT money, and these two are better 'investments' with that kind of budget.

However, each to their own.

I agree that the 996TT has probably done the bulk of its depreciating but as more 997s come on the market it will be interesting to see how much of an effect that has - but is it just me or is the TT starting to look really dated alongside the new 997 model line up? ..(runs for cover) ...no disrespect intended to anybody that owns one; but given the choice I would go for a 997 over a 996; but different strokes for different folks I suppose.

but isnt the 911 turbo still THE icon? The 997 shape is growing on me but looks too plain. I still prefer the 996 shape, egg lights and wide hips of the 996tt.

When the 997's replacement has been out a few years, surely the 997 will start to look dated too.

With the amount of cars Porsche are producing I feel the 997 will follow the 996 depreciation curve.

You are not comparing like for like here.
I don't think a 997C2 can be compared to a 996TT. You just need to drive the 2 cars to know what I mean.

Someone who is looking for a 996TT has probably had another Porsche before and want the car because it has 420bhp and absolutely flies. They will not look at the 997 and think, well for an extra £3k I can have a much newer, later model car but I am missing 100bhp. All in IMHO or course.

I would never dispute the 996TT being an icon - but all the Turbo's are icons - to me the 965 and 964 versions are the ones I would want. Whilst the 996TT is the everyday supercar and a superb accomplishment - I just don`t feel it will age well. Again its personal preference and it may have something to do with the radical redesign of the 996 over the 993 I don`t know. I accept that all cars age, but some better than others. I hope to be proved wrong .. in the meantime we`ll just have to wait and see. thumbup

Damn, unfortunately that would be my *personal* opinion as well. Even as a 996 owner I think 996s keep going down and there will be no floor. It doesn't matter how good the car is, if there is too much supply second hand prices will keep going lower.

GT3 and TT 996s on the other hand - I have no real opinion. They seem to trade slightly differently, whether due to scarcity or perceived value vs. other marques or very high price of new ones I don't know.

I think your correct there!

I think more people would go from a 997s to a turbo than the other way round. We may be having exactly the same discussion if they had brought out the 996 but as the 997 shape and the 997 as the 996 shape(still with me) as Id move from one to the other for the drive and power as to the shape. I think......
