yesterday, someone in a 5 series with pimp-tints and lowered suspension gave chase after I felt the need to exercise 3rd gear on a private section of the M25 runway.

it wasn't an M5 (which I could have understood), as it had a single pair of ickle exhausts hanging out the back.

beemer drivers - why do you bother? frankly, it's embarrassing. hehe

I pulled into the middle lane after my enjoyment was sated - only to see him come past several seconds later. Probably went home to tell his mates he raped a TT hehe

has anyone else experienced something rather stupid trying to hang off the back of them?

I recently had a run-in with an e60 535D, passed him on the local dual carriage way before heading on to the A19, must of upset him as he gave chase and started tailgating rolleyes I took it easy on the roundabout and sliproad before showing him a clean pair of heels as the road opened up , would love to have seen his face as I pulled away... as those 535 Diesel's are the fastest cars in the world you know... hehe

I honestly think the new shape 5-series owners think their cars are faster than they actually are.

Brush / Tar... moi? hehe

I might be shot for saying this, but my dad said one day a 997S made chase when he was in the Caterham and felt the need to exercise his right foot by overtaking at about 90-100 into a 40 limit standing on the brakes in front of him...
But there you go, there are tts who drive all sorts of cars....

Not really sure of your point. This isn't a thread about silly overtaking manouevres or insane speed in 30/40 limits.

Very disappointing. The correct technique here, is to let them pass you on the straights, let them gain about 200 yards on you, and then you hang in there and wait for a roundabout. As soon as one comes into view, you regain all the distance you surrendered earlier as you late brake, then breeze past at turn in, boot out at your exit, and then cruise along as you were before and wait for the offending racer to overtake you again. Repeat until dizzy or bored. It's no fun showing these guys a clean set of heels on the straights. Roundabouts and twisties are where honour is lost or gained.

Yea had a lot of trouble with 996tt first overtaking me on long straight going into kirby lonsdale then performing what appeared to be emergency stops at every corner for the next 10 miles, after which i got fed up..and took him on a long right hander and then lost
him through the next series of twisties....strange,but true..honest cloud9

then i woke up

and washed the boxster.

The public in general views 4x4 drivers with contempt. BMW drivers, too. Audi has become a bit of a bete noir of late, and Ferrari drivers always have been. What's your point? I'm sure I'm not alone in this forum in having done road awareness driving courses, and I'm by and large a safe and considerate driver. But what now? I should be worried what the public in general thinks if every now and again I decide to have a bit of a play within the bounds of safety? To hell with that.

This one takes the biscuit....pure Alan Partridge

What is it with some, that they need to prove in some crass way by leaving a skoda or diesel for dead.

my god, I've just found a massive thread entirely about the 535d. it would seem that there really is a whole lot of "interesting" opinion out there regarding the merits of the 535d. great car I'm sure, but some posters (seemingly owners) are busy comparing it to the likes of M5's etc.

spooky.

If we are talking Mway here then I think we are all a bit caught up in this 911 thing, I have done the same on Mway & looked in the mirror, BMW still there. yes in twisty's you will leave it for dead but from a rolling 50ish start in a stright line they things can move.

You all have forgotten
The very fast Golf! with the big wheels and tints ,engine size optional, they love the rear of a Porsche

Try some roll reversal let them pass then sit on the rear ,that works well after a couple of miles the pressure gets to them they pull over and leave you to sail on into the sunset

I've never seen it, but then I do go as fast as I can possibly go everywhere so I guess I wouldn't notice if someone was trying to race me.

Got cut up by bank truck forcing me onto grass verge for 20 yards - waited a mile or so, saw my opportunity and overtook. From then on it was Dual.

Managed to keep 100 to 200 yards ahead most of the evening chase, each of us doing a no-stop, no-holds barred average of 80mph on twisty country roads, from M6 through Scottish Borders to Edinburgh. It was a damn close thing and in the end I hid Wheeler's test (no cat) Griffith up a city side road to ensure truck driver and his mate knew I had won the race.

To all drivers of the rocket-ship that is the Vectra D / Mondeo LX / 407 Pointless etc, etc, who seem to be forever sitting on my arse on the Motorway. Please just FcensoredK OFF. If I wanted a race, I would pick on something a little more interesting than your poverty spec rep mobile..... ranting

If people are sitting on your arse, get out the way at the first safe oppotunity!

If they want to play silly buggers after that then they're fair game.
