Traders can be fair with buy in price! RSJ Sportscars
Discussion
Decided to have an early mid life crisis and have bought a Ferrari 360. I needed to sell my Boxster and advertised it on this website at £19,750 (03, 53 High spec 2.7 38k miles). No takers and a couple of timewasters later, I contacted a couple of traders. Joel of RSJ agreed to the highest bid-fuss free sale and money in my account next day. This is the 3rd car I have sold to Joel (1 was SOR) and it does show that some traders can be fair- So whilst he's going to make good money out of the car its a fair margin for investment and no silly hiding age (malton), mileage (911 virgin) or price (HWM)- What the heck is all that about!
I just dont understand people's logic however- they could have saved a good few grand and bought the same car but c'est la vie and I am glad I did not buy it at full retail as I would now be looking at a 4-5k loss over 6 months rather than a few hundred!

I sold my 996 back to the indy I bought it from, It is on his website for £3900 more than he bid me.
Thats not bad when you think he had a big key scratch to fix ( i was quoted £850) & he is going to service it as well.
If he sells it cash I can't see him makeing more than £2k, I am ok with that.

Having viewed and commented on previous threads started by Paracetamol and in particular his "hand wringing" ramblings regarding climate change, I really am surprised he has purchased a Ferrari as opposed to a Prius or some sort of hybrid.
If Ferrari have developed a world beating non polluting engine this is is the first I've heard of it.
Or could it be perhaps that he now accepts the case put forward by many eminent scientists that climate change is a natural event , and nothing to do with a contrivance and desire to raise additional tax revenue by morally bankrupt politicians such as Bliar and his little coterie.

Sounds more than fair, Not sure he can survive on those margins unless he turns round a lot of cars. Can I ask who it was might give him a call about my 996 Targa ?

Or, when the chips are down, he ultimately doesn't give a damn what's causing what so long as he has his fun. But in a Ferrari 360? Eeeeeww.

you're an odd one!
your posts career from "all you rich bastards that live in chelsea should pay more tax", to "you're all killing the planet for our children", to "i've just bought a 360". personally i find all 3 offensive

To clarify my position (!) again....you have inaccurately paraphrased me and I find that offensive!
1)The congestion charge will not financially affect those living in Chelsea to any large extent and those who can afford to park there will not feel the pain. It will however stop people travelling through and hence reduce congestion. Plus there are very few excuses for not using public transport in London to get to work.
2)I do believe that global warming is taking place and humans are responsible for it. My belief is that we need incenitives to develop cleaner technologies and these are in some instances higher taxation. This will drive consumers to demand cleaner technologies and therefore for manufacturers to develop them. The rich west is best placed to develop these and to then sell the technologies to the developing world. Its actually a massive opportunity and follows the same patterns of technology transfer in modern times-just wish people could see the bigger picture!
3) Same as 2) for the Band G argument-this is the government sending out a clear message to buyers of new cars-so yes-whilst most buying these cars will be able to afford to run them, the rich do have a concience and can be made to think in non economic terms (ie I can afford it so I'll do it). Its obvious that manufacturers are reacting- all Mercs will be available as hybrids, as with the new 4 door Porsche and the Cayanne etc etc
3)The Ferrari will cover no more than 1000 miles in a year and I will be swapping the VW Passat for something more environmentally friendly (probably a 3 series diesel at 150g/km). In addition I travel on public trasnport five days a week. Use the car only for long journies when there at least 2 of us etc.

Why not talk to Joel at RSJ?

Have already talked to Joel who as ever was helpful and straight forward and gave me a ball park price which was not at all unreasonable. Now got to decide if I go the private route with all the pain that brings or take the easy way with one or other of our fine indies. I dont have any problem selling to the dealers and appreciate the no hassle route they offer, but I do need to make a certain level to afford the replacement, so private has some appeal.

Have you considered sale or return-its a good half way house? I sold my 996 C4 (RSJ) and my Boxster 2.5 (Hendon Way Motors- would not recommend-though they were fine in the end they tried it on for an extra grand out of the deal-called their bluff and said I would be picking the car up the next day)-worked very well each time- both sold within 3 weeks. You really need to trust the garage though-so only deal with them if they come recommended. The only real danger is that they go bump between receiving the money for your car and paying you..its a possibility but remote with Porsche indies around London as they appear to be doing a roaring trade.

I am having a sense of humour failure at the moment...I am sat here waiting for the delivery company to deliver the 360 (been waiting since last Thursday but they couldnt do it til today!)
I am a nice guy really- just dislike Cayannes and their owners in the same way that you dislike Ferrari ones
I guess we bioth love 911 though and so at least we have some common ground. hoges11 said:
Not a bad idea and one I may consider but am itching to get cash in hand soon so I can go shopping so will maybe go the indie route.
out of intrest would you be willing to advise the diffrence between bids?, not the actual amount just the diffrance, would be intresting to see as some on here seem to think traders bid offer spread is £10k, not in my case as previously explained

I can see why you edited this to take the childish pointless comments out of it so you dont look so bad. Some progress I guess.
