General consensus appears to be driver training in the context of a GT3, however JZM (Manthey) & Parr are well known routes to relieve you of significantly large amounts of well earned! Seriously if you are thinking of mods don't stray far from these 2.

bhp will cost you mega bucks

depends what you are trying to achieve, on the road the standard car is excellent, but if you track the car you will want to do the following:

a good geo set up
Alcons floating disc set up with Pagid RS29
track tyres like Toyo R888

then spend some money on driver training

then visit Manthey and sell a kidney

I was at Manthey last week. In the showroom was a mint Manthey K440 MK2 GT3 - just £60k (102k euro). I don't think yoou need to sell a kidney.

BUT, to need loads more power must mean the original poster must have reached 10/10ths of the current car - so hats off!

Or he just wants more power without having to reach 10/10th's...

GT3 engines are notoriously expense to get a lot more power out of. Had my car down at Parr for their remapping, according to the before and after dyno reading worth about 20 BHP - Price £ 750 plus VAT. Noticable improvement on the drive home

Better exhaust system is next route but you have to watch noise problem if u track it.

Manthey engine upgrade is the next which I think with exhaust is £10,000 area but a may be wrong.

Driver training has to be first mod - I know very few people that are capable of driving a GT3 close to its capabilities. Tyres and suspension geo setup are then the next most noticeable differences.

Exhausts are a strange one, I have had numerous discussions with people that know regarding the standard GT3 exhaust being very good for power. The aftermarket options will exclude you from most uk track days and don't make a huge difference.

Regarding the GT3 remap - I would be very suprised if an extra 20bhp was found just with a remap. Porsche are often pessimistic regarding their power figures and MKIIs often make around 395-400 bhp. Standard RSs sometimes make around 405. A MKII with revo map recently made 420 at Weltmeister but it was running on 102 octane and the map can make use of the extremely high octane to advance the ignition further. Most maps cannot do this.

Agree with everything you say Steve, driver training is the best way to make the car go quickly on the track followed by suspension/geo mods/Cup tyres, after all the Carrera Cup Cars make do without any huge power mods and they are bloody fast.

Forgot to mention, when had the remap I was running on BP 102, more a test just to see what difference it would make as not rich enough to spend 3.50 a litre everytime i fill it up as would make the fuel tank worth almost as much as the car!!

Again agree with Steve ,there is a lot more to come out of a very std GT3 than most would realise. There is more than enough power learning how to use it is the key.As for mods keep it simple set up , tyres and pads.If you are starting to get going maybe a Cup crown wheel and pinion....but I never got there as my Porsche Open budget is here...

The big push on the Manthey conversion is supposed to be in the mid range.

And all for one third of the extra cost of a 997 GT3.

Yummy.

What would it do on E85 with a dual range map ?

Green and mean ?

The Manthey conversion is tuned to significantly improve low and midrange torque.

Standard, the Mk1 GT3 puts out about 273lbft torque peak

Manthey'd, the Mk1 GT3 puts out c.315lbft of torque

'Tis one of the reasons a Mk1 Manthey GT3 will not be outdragged by a 997GT3RS in many situations.

TUV approved and solid. The K400 (Mk1) conversion is basically new headers, cats, 'zorst, induction, ecu remap. The K410 (Mk2) is the same minus the induction. No internal engine changes.

Only the K440 changes the cylinder liners and is a 3.9 conversion. 440hp, TUV tested + approved.
