Kwik Fit - Good or Bad for Tyre Repair???
Discussion
Now I would normally not use Kwik Fit even to ask for directions but I need a type repairing quite urgently and there is one right at the end of my road. So for convenience I could get the car into them tomorrow immediately in the morning have it all sorted.
Are they going to scuff my wheels or can I trust them with a job which should really be their bread and butter.
Otherwise, has anyone used an excellent tyre repairer/fitter in the West of London recently?

Don't do it. 99% of their business is fitting £150 tyres to Mondeos. I live in West London and went to my local Kwik Fit (had a puncture) and they didn't know what the hell they were talking about (balancing, pressures, etc). No way I would let them touch my Porsche.
Be careful about repairing tyres for such high performance cars - can be risky if not done properly. If you're thinking of replacing I can't recommend Event Tyres highly enough (google them) - they pop round to your office/home with all the equipment and within 25min had both my rears changed - not a mark on my wheels and used them twice now.
I thought as much. And whilst accidents do obviously happen, they do seem more Neanderthal than most.
Normally I would replace the tyre, but this tyre is almost new and whilst that is good because I would most probably not need to replace both sides it still stings a little bit.
I have had puncture repairs previously and never had a problem. But I think I will steer clear of KF then.
Unless someone has any good recommendations in the West London I will have to drive up to my trusted place in Watford.

My local Kwik Fit in Wembley did a fine job repairing one of my front tyres a couple of months back. I went during the day, avoiding the weekend staff. The older guy there did them. I explained that I am very fussy about my car, that I wanted chrome valve stems to match the others, weights on the inside of the wheel and no scratches. He did a fine job, very carefully. We talked about cars, Porsche 928s, business and other stuff. Nice bloke, very helpful.
A few years ago when I had my Omega he spent over an hour tracking down a knocking exhaust and fixed it - no charge.
They're not ALL bad.
You could also try Greenford Tyres, one of the local fitters for mail order tyres.

Second that, I'd rather spend another £180 knowing when playing BTCC my tyre won't pop.....Would you gaffer tape a hose in your engine?

The tyre repair patches are only good to 120mph ......i suppose in the event of a blow out and accident claim from your insurance it may give them an excuse to wiggle out of it...as porsche do not recommend puncure replacement.

Is that the case for vulcanised repairs as well?

well thats made me very worried Im having two conti's fitted to my C4S tomorrow morning by kwik fit. They were the best price and I thought a tyre can only be fitted one way. As for marks on the wheels I will photograph them before. Or should I cancel. BE HONEST IN YOUR REPLIES
Like I said, I would never let Kwik Fit touch my Porsche. If you're still unconvinced, when you get there tomorrow ask them which N rating and pressures they'd recommend - you'll see...!! My local Kwik Fit didn't know what an N rating was and suggested 26psi for a 305 rear tyre...
