I've put my name down for one but left it rather late. The OPC says that they are trying to get me one but are unsure of GB allocation at the moment. Is anyone else in the same position?

So far as I am aware, allocations are sold out until 2008.

Of course, if you've placed a pre-order and put down the required deposit, you are at least in the queue. So, it is possible that, if allocations are increaed, or buyers drop out, then you might see a car a bit sooner.

However, the new GT3 is so good, and with summer on the horizon, why not avoid the wait and buy a nearly new one now. You might pay a small premium, but it's worth it to enjoy it asap.

You only live once.

Thanks for the info. I'm in the queue and Porsche GB and the factory have my order on their 'system'. I don't want a used one, this is going to be my first new car for years. I'm normally too impatient to wait and by demonstrators but this time I want to spec it exactly how I want it.

I recently placed and order for one and i am looking at a March 08 delivery , still tempted to cancel and go to 996 RS route after seeing the end price with my spec!

I was told by an OPC that production of the GT3 ends some time in 08 (as Porsche were going to limit numbers to protect resale) and therefore if I hadn't already got my name down then I was unlikely to get one - Sounded like a "hand over the deposit now" tactic, can anyone confrim or deny?

Why not put down a deposit on teh Facelift version ? There's bound to be one.

It may even be a 3.8 accepting E85 and the other new high octane eco fuels ?

My local OPC also stated that they had no more allocation available, for 07 or 08, just the persuassion needed to confirm my order ! Salesmans dream? No, I had been deliberating on the final spec for a bit of negotiation.

Yes,I have heard the new 'import quota' story from a few sources over the last couple of weeks.

We will be seeing the price of ALL Porsche RHD models start to firm over the coming year as Porsche GB / Porsche AG has decided to restrict the numbers of all its new models that they bring into the UK market. They say its because they have had many complaints about poor residuals.

IMO its more about complaining OPC's wanting to keep their OPC Stealers margins nice and fat!
