insurance recommendations

Just got my insurance renewal through. Frizzells want £1323 for 996 C2 with full NCB, me and wife, business cover and one at-fault accident in 2005. Just tried moneysupermarket and for same, have been quoted from £378 (Swiftcover) through to £1009 - i.e. every one beating my existing co. So, time to move on, but any one know much about swiftcover ? or other good recommendations ?
Age 36, 3 points, full NCD, plus wife, 1 no-fault claim
I found Tesco and Sainsbury's to be a lot cheaper (£720 ish) than the "proper" insurance companies.
At the AA, their spotty "specialist insurance advisor" even had the cheek to ask me whether I thought I could handle the performance!!

I found Liverpool Victoria reasonable and they don't ask for a tracker.
Liverpool Vic. own Frizzells so not too much difference there......try Norwich Union Direct, they quoted quite a low price, but , more importantly, when I needed them, they came up trumps. Too often when the 'cheaper' companies are called upon, they leave something to be desired....beware! As my grannie used to say "you get what you pay for..."
Good luck, Paultje
We do OK on Admiral and www.expressinsurance.co.uk can offer good rates. I would always look beyond the price and make sure if you do have to make a claim you get what you want such as similar car. Actually
www.tescofinance.com/personal/fina looked after me really well when I was hit and this was another guys insurance company!

You might find this hard to believe, I did, but NFU insure my house, horse, trailer so asked them, not expecting a serious response, anyway new GT3 @ £90k full NCB, full replacement value if I trash car in 2 YEARS, most insurance companies 1 year, for £ 1025, £500 excess. I was amazed as previous insurers on 996 turbo, NU, £ 250 more and £900 excess.
I always find this strange when reading these insurance type posts.
And I guess it really just comes down to your personal circumstances and details.
A lot of people say good things about A-Plan but when I tried them recently they gave me a quote 150% more than my current renewal with Admiral. I have now been with Admiral for the past 3 or so years. Whenever I get my renewal through I start shopping around, calling all of the usual suspects, incl. Privilege, Tesco, Adrian Flux, Churchil, etc. No one can come close.
So my vote goes to Admiral. Although I have never made a claim with them so all of this could be rubbish

I found this site to be really good..although prices quoted are not always exactly what you will haveto pay...worth a punt though.

Admiral for me too, and by a mile especially on the multi-car quote. 993, 37 years old, 4y NCD, £500.
Key things in premium calculation are:
1. Post code - if it's high risk then it'll cost a fortune no matter where you go.
2. Annual mileage - keep it as low as is reasonable
3. Get a female on the policy
4. Years NCD
5. Protected NCD - not worth doing unless you've got at least 5.
6. Driver age
Garaging a car makes zero difference believe it or not.
