944 - 17" or 18" wheels?

I was wondering if anyone had compared 944's on 17" and 18" wheels - for weekend and occasional track day use? I'm wondering if the 18" with low profile tyres will be too stiff and ultimately cause the handling to suffer over our less than perfect roads, pattering over small bumps. To be fitted to a 250hp 944 turbo with M030.

Not sure if this will help, but I moved up from 16 x 7 wheels on my 928 to 18 x10/18 x8 for traction reasons (Nitrous)

Although with the big wheels/tyres they tramline slightly more....they give an amazing amount of extra grip...well worth it..I got mine from a 996...

Work colleague had 18's on his 944. He also had it lowered and it still felt quite compliant, even to me and I had a VW Passat at the time with tugboat suspension.
