Just had to nip to our local town to pay a bill, came up behind a fiesta being driven at about 40 on the 60 road, but its windy and 40 doesn't feel that slow, I'm not in a rush to give my money away so I happily sit behind listening to the radio.

Suddenly he starts slamming his brakes on and swerving around???

Slows right down to 15MPH, and makes me sit behind him for a few hundred yards on blind S's.

Ok I've had a bad morning do not need this.

He then waves me past after stopping on a blind corner!! And gives me the hand signals rolleyes

I overtake thinking to myself prat but still haven't risen to the bait.

Finally he decides to lean on his horn flash his lights and shout maniac as I go past!!

That was it I'm afraid, months of idiots in nissan micra's came bubbling to the surface, slammed on brakes and blocked road with car.

Get out at this point driver looks distinctly less enthusiastic about his previous course of action.

"Whats your problem I shout from by my car"

"You were driving too quickly" comes the response

How can you drive too quickly following someone?? I wouldn't mind if I was a tailgater but I always leave a good gap.

I just shouted back learn to drive and drove off.

The best bit was this a young kid with an attitude problem?

He was about 60-70. Disgusting that this standard of driving exists, I cannot see I did anything wrong, I was under the speed limit (for once), leaving a good gap, driving smoothly, not on a phone, yet here was an idiot prepared to put his, my and anyone elses life at risk to try and prove a point that did not exist.

So have I. It can happen when driving any car - but the minute cocks like this see a Porsche they really do go mental...

Can't say I'm surprised, their tiny minds are constantly bombarded with 'slow is safe and good' + 'fast is unsafe and bad' messages.

You can thank the Speed Camera Pratnership for that.
I've had it too, when I spot the type I just regard it as a kind of sport now, to see how riled up they can get

Note to self: when being followed by Mr Wild....GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!

Only Joking......you'll be hard pressed to keep up with me if im in that kind of mood.

That road to Hornsea through Skipsea can be a nightmare if you are behind caravans or old, flat cap, windscreen kissing, fiesta driving, dont get out of 2nd gear sunday drivers!!!! or the ones when you look at the car you double take cos you can only just see the top of a flat cap and hands on the wheel.

well it was actually the beeford skipsea road that was the problem this time, there is no need as you can hit 120 easily on that road (I imagine) but today i was quite happy just to chill.

I had something similar happen to me. I was driving 50 in a 50 zone, lovely day, me and GF minding our own business. Next thing, about 50 yards in front of us, a guy in his pick up pulls onto the road from his driveway and forces me to brake. There was no traffic behind me for about a mile, so he could have waited. Equally, there was a hard shoulder he could have used, but he just drove over it and pulled onto the road. No panic. I slowed down and stayed a reasonable distance behind him hoping he'd wind up to 50 leaving me no worse off then before. No. He pottered along at 35, so after about a mile I decided I'd had enough and overtook him. Cue horn/flashing lights and immediate accelleration up to about an inch from my rear bumper. Determined not to give in to the bullying, I kept to the limit and had him behind me like this for a few miles until we came to the next town, at which point I stopped and got out for a word. He was a retard, so the exchange is not worth repeating, but it just boiled down to the fact that he didn't like being overtaken by a nice car.

In general, this is the huge problem I have with Health and Saftey. There's just no risk in anything anymore, and nothing to stop the mouth breathers and knuckle draggers from tripping into the holes or under the falling pianos that God has put where he has for good reason. It's why bends were invented. To give those of us with our wits about us something to do whilst the gene pool is given a good scrub as those not as genetically fit drive into trees as they try to keep up.

You can 'cure' tailgaters by varying your speed (like a sine wave) on the throttle. They are lazy gits and can't be done with matching a constantly varying speed, they'll either blow a gasket and have a stroke or just back off.

Either way they'll back off when you are on the gas, just to be with you again when you are off it.

Happens quite a lot in Norfolk this, just generally slowsters taking exception to being overtaken -- and it doesn't seem to matter what vehicle I'm driving.

So far I've managed to rise above it and ignore them, but occassionally I get a little pang of annoyance that I can quell.

Thing is these bozos are right. They are driving at the correct speed for the conditions in a fashion that couldn't be improved upon, and that's why they're flashing their lights. You are an idiot playing fast and loose with life itself by overtaking them. On this basis, it's utterly pointless to get involved because they won't see it your way and the only result will be a slanging match or fistfight.

In particularly dangerous circumstances though it's worth reporting them to the police I'd say -- I understand road rage is frowned upon and if you accuse them of that it might get acted upon...

To coin a phrase,
"Whats behind you, is not important."
Just drive off.
These slowsters are just hazards I drive around, and then drive off.
Ignore all that gesticuatling horseshit, can they catch you if they want ?
I like seeing them getting smaller in my rear view mirror, tee hee.

Hi Paul byebye

I caught a dithering A2 up once quite rapidly (NSL Road) and he started acting all funny - i.e driving in the middle of the road, slowing down for no reason etc. I sussed that he was a little unhinged and it must have been because of me somehow (there were no other cars on the road) so I feinted an overtake attempt in traffic and he nearly stuffed his car into the queue in front in his desperation to stay ahead.
Then he got out and wanlked toward my car (he was only about 35), saw me laughing in his face, turned round and got back in.

So the morale is, if they get all bitey, laugh in their face thumbup

My car spends 6 months in the UK and then 6 months on the continent (mostly Germany). UK mileage is about 700 miles in 6 months followed by about 4000 miles on the continent.

I have experienced rude gestures and verbal abuse several times in the UK. I have NEVER had any such experience on the continent - go figure.

I had some old coffin dodger tap the back of my car with his walking stick this lunchtime, because I didn't slam on my brakes and let him walk accross the road in front of me.

Fair enough if he was on a pedestrian crossing, but he wasn't.

As supermono pointed out, it's Normal For Norfolk.

I had a similar thing last Friday. Going to collect the Mrs' new car and I followed 2 cars off a roundabout on the a dual carridgway.
Both were doing 45mph on the inside lane so I accelerated and indicate right and pulled out. (I was in the Shogun so things dont happen very quickly). I just got level with his back end (Merc M class) and he just pulled out . No indication. I blew my horn. He continued to pull out so he was now in front of me but I didnt flash or wave or anything, I just thought "Idiot". At that point, at about 55mph, he slammed his brakes on. I jumped on mine, locked up, just missed the back of him ( and I mean just) and he drove on. Got to the next roundabout and he wouldnt stop (I was indicating for him to pull over) he just turned left onto the M6 while flipping me the bird.. Unbelieveable.

ive noticed that this doesnt happen when driving in wales, when out of the towns and on decent NSL roads, most people get a move on or let others pass them. I had quite an enjoyable drive following a local who I assume was driving normally but quickly, he knew all the bends and showed some good skills!

This is not the case in theo rest of this country though, ive lost count of the amount of people who have gone mad when ive performed a perfectly legal and safe overtake...

East Yorkshire and Norfolk have some similarities!

I don't understand why these people get so upset, surely my bumper sticker of "Now fox hunting is banned I hunt Peasants" can't upset them?
