964 turbo 2 advice.
Discussion
Original turbo will last at most 80k.
Check warm-up regulator is working, they do fail over time and can cost a reasonable amount to replace.
Engines will weep oil.
Shocks last at most 40k.
Full set of disc/pads is close to £800
Check clutch ~£800 to replace.
Set of tyres on 18's is £600-700
Mine never cost more than £1000 a year to service, but I kept on top of stuff throughout the year. So, i'd say put 2.5K away in a "service" bank account and you should be more than fine...

Is it common for them to suffer from a 'clunking'diff mainly when engaging reverse? Also the boost gauge showed the car to be boosting at 0.1 bar even at low speeds? (ie only on idle it had zero boost). Check warm-up regulator is working, they do fail over time and can cost a reasonable amount to replace.

I can only say of the 930, but zimmerman discs and textar pads are available from Eurocarparts and work fine, I've got 16" wheels -> cheap tyres. Use synthetic oil and let the turbo cool down before switching off, boost gauge should read 0 at 0 boost, diff does not clunk in reverse but the pads can as they settle;- you may be hearing that.

The CIS injection systems must be working well (assuming the 965 uses it), some parts are cheap, some parts are very very expensive.

KC, is this a toy or to replace your TT? Good luck with your hunt
Probably to replace the tt if i can find a good turbo 2 which is not as easy as it seems...
Do you want a Turbo 2 or Turbo 3.6?
This may not be of interest but I saw a Midnight Blue Turbo 2 the other day that may be for sale. It is a car that was built by Phil Hindley (Tech9 proprietor www.tech9.ms/ )with a shell from Porsche. It is around 400bhp, 38,000 mile, tech9 spec suspension, original equipment Turbo S rear spoiler. Probably lots of other spec I dont know.

Think your been a bit conservative here UV on some figures.
cost me a grand to have all 4 discs and pads done on my 965
cost me over a grand to have clutch replaced
They all leak oil, i spent a substantial amount of money on fixing bloody oil leaks and it still leaked so gave up in the end!
Apart from that not a bad car, look great in the flesh, but i wouldn't have another.

What's a few 100 quid between friends when you're talking about servicing a turbo... To be honest I imported my disc and pads from the US, cost half the numbers we have been talking about here.
Fair comment.
Shows how much we get bloody ripped off here.
Good point though who did you go through Pelican parts?
