968 cooling Help !!!!
Discussion
Right so after three years of 993 / 968 heaven I decided to sell my 993 to buy someting else (not bought yet) and having had no issues with the 968 decided I would run it for a bit everyday the 993 went on friday so what happens to day ......
Yes the bl**dy 968 starts overheating !!!! Now I am convinced that its probably the fan motor but I am not sure how to check things I have done so far
1. Checked fuses both ok
2. Listened for fan and raised temp to 3/4 on the temp gauge fan does not cut in.
So either its a faulty thermostat or the fan motor has gone
Is ther anyway ofd checking these
Thanks

If the fan motor wire is easy to access and has just two wires try connecting it straight to 12 volts. If it works then look for a switch fitted into the radiator somewhere - if this has 2 wires try connecting them together and see if it makes the fan come on - if it doesn't then it probably needs a new switch.
I haven't done any of this on one of these cars, this is just back to basics stuff that I'd try. If there are more wires or you are unsure then seek expert advice - probably why you asked here in the first place I know
but the above might be useful in the meantime.

You will probably have a 3 pin radiator switch but you can test the fan by unplugging it and just using 2 wires from a battery.
If that does work link accross 2 off the wires in the plug for the switch and see if it comes on.

Well the fan works !!!!!! so now either its the temp switch or the wireing, now normaly this would go to the garage but I cant get it booked in in time and its having its cage fitted on thursday !!!
So where does the temp switch live and what does it look like ? Oh and how do I change it ??
Thanks
