996TT Standard Options
Discussion
Just started looking for 996TTs and wondered if you guys could shed some light ...
Can someone give me a heads up on the standard options that I can expect on an early 996TT? Full leather interior etc?
Also are there any must have options I should insist on?
Not sure if the right folks will see this but what about the standard options on the 4S? Does it include BOSE and the memory seats. The dealer I went to see was not sure.
Thanks all.

On UK supplied cars in 2000, the car had full leather, sunroof, electric memory seats (or sports seats as a no cost option) and the Porsche Sound Pack (BOSE wasn't available back then). Options were PCM 1 (run by valves and cogs) with integrated telephone (only worked on O2 and Vodaphone)....
Thanks guys!
Sports seats were a no cost option? Surely that is a no brainer. I love the sports seats and I think every TT should have them.
Does PCM include the Sat Nav option with the screen or are these 2 separate things?
I don't think Xenons (Litronics) were standard since I have seen 4S without them.

I think the 4S came with Xenons and electric seats as standard, but fairly sure Bose was an option.

Some confusion here are the facts for the 996TT:
Spec includes powerful Bi-Xenon headlamps (with integral cleaning) a standard fit sunroof and special 18 inch hollow spoke lightweight “Turbo2” alloy wheels. Inside you could specify sports seats as a no cost option (NCO) and the standard seats came with full electronic adjustment and driver’s seat memory! Be aware that if you choose a car
with sports seats, it won’t come with the full electric/memory package! The stereo was upgraded to a top of the range package and, from the 02-model year, this was made by Bose. In the same year the auto-dim mirror with rain sensor also became standard. From the 04-model year the PCM satellite navigation package was standard. The Turbo also benefited from all the facelift 996’s other features including: [the sports steering wheel, an upgraded on board computer (which includes digital boost pressure!!!) a glove-box and cupholders etc. In addition to the standard central locking, electric windows with one touch open/close, heated electric mirrors and rear screen, two speed wipers with intermittent wipe and heated washer jets plus rear wiper, split folding rear seats, air conditioning, patented crash protection zones plus four air bags featuring POSIPS (Porsches side impact protection system) a good quality “full closure” alarm immobiliser system and a full leather interior, phew! ].
the C4S offers all the following extra goodies as standard compared to the C4: [-18” Turbo 2 “look” wheels with wider tyres and wider track, 10mm lowered sports chassis, the wide-body Turbo body kit with its own unique rear reflector strip, upgraded brakes, (even more awesome than the standard C2, the same as the Turbo’s with discs 330mm front and rear)Porsche’s sound pack and full electronic seats. The car also receives an upgrade to full leather as standard in countries where this isn’t standard on the C2].

Are the 4S wheels genuine Turbo II lightweight items or just look alikes?
They're lookalikes I think ... The turbo ones are hollow , the 4S wheels have grooves on the inside rather than being hollowed out.

Are there any markings or visible part numbers that can be confirmed on genuine lightweight Turbo items? For instance, to confirm an owner has not replaced the expensive items with replicas.
Also are there options I should insist the car has, although I presume this is a personal choice.
For instance, I used to own a Boxster and the wind deflector and the Porsche sound pack was a must.

the back of the genuine turbo wheels are flat whereas the non hollow spokes have a section cut out, just feel the back of the spoke and you'll know straight away.
No matey I could NEVER ignore you, it all seemed to get snowed under by GT3 topics, and then to top it off you got your PSE and spent all your waking hours hooning around scaring nuns and vicars !
(Plus of course there OTHER very very very interesting websites to hang round on, although not sure if they count on the "Best toilet read" thread !! - devil of a job balancing my laptop on my lap while pretending to be "Joe the Horse from Surrey" or whatever !!!)
