Is it possible to use a trailer on eurotunnel? Going to the alps in the summer with the family and sorely missed not having the GT3 out there. Trailering it down there is one way out!

cheers

Ajit.

Eurotunnel used to be very expensive when trailering, more than double the cost of the car alone. They're trying to cater for the higher end of the market and their pricing tends to discourage trailers. When I did it 5+ years ago they put trailers in with the lorries; the double deck passenger car carriages would make it challenging to get a car towing a trailer onboard. That may have influenced the pricing.

Things may have changed though...

Its worth having a look at all the channel crossing companies. There are often v good deals for car and trailers. Mainly aimed at Cars and Caravans I think. Last year we took our trackday car to Le Mans. Our tow car and trailer (with the TD car on it) cost £97.38. We booked through www.leisuredirection.co.uk the crossing was on a Sea France ferry. This year we are going to Spa in August and I will again be looking around for the best deals.

Trailers go in with the cars - a tight squeeze width wise mind. We`ve done it on several occasions with the race car.

Thanks for that guys. Driving around the alps last summer with the kids was great; but the thought of being able to dump them back in the Chalet for a swim and then bugger off in the GT3 on those roads was very tempting - only the car was back in London...

Henry - Tom said he/you guys know an outfit who can supply/fit towbars at good rates - Merc want a ridiculous amount of money for our E class wagon. Would be grateful for a tel number etc.

Cheers

Ajit.

Tow-b-fabs in Apsley (off M25 J20) would be an option. Alternatively try GT towing near hatfield. I think they come to you (they did one of our tow trucks) and are a big outfit.

All the best.

Tunnel no probs, even my set up @ 14m still fine in with the cars, Speedferries a no go with trailers.

Tunnel is really bloody tight if youve got a wheels beside the bed type trailer, wheels under the bed type = much more room.

Lie about your cars height when you book the tunnel and they give you a ticket for the lorry carriage, it doesnt cost more.
