Hi I am thinking of buying a boxster s - as some of you know. I can get a full check of the car done by a porsche specialist garage for £149 - I will get a "report" at the end and it will take them about two hours. Does this seem reasonable and do you think it worth doing.........also if the report were to suggest £1000 of work needed should i knock £1000 off the asking price or split it down the middle.....

Hi

You could get a porsche 111 point check for a little bit more than that and it will carry some weight with it !!

Are you going to get a warranty ? If so get it inspected a a dealer..(can't beleive im saying this a specialist recommending a dealer)

yes

Mike's got it in one ... spend a bit more , get a 111 point check done at an OPC , then you've the option of taking out a warranty on the car , if it passes the check.

Should he negotiate the 1000 of work that might require or split it down the middle?

If the car comes back and they say it needs work surely he should ask for the amount he feels it devalues the car by, after all he is under no obligation to buy so therefore he shouldn't settle for less than he wants off of it

Get the report and then take a view on what is essential how much it costs and then make sure tha the price of the car reflects this.
