Just a quickie - does anyone know the cost of a pre-warranty 111 point check at an OPC? Had a search on the forum and can't find a figure anywhere!

Is it fixed price, or costed based on labour (and if so, has anyone had it done recently and can let me know what it cost them)?

£250 iirc. the cost is deducted from that of the warrenty if it passes and you take one out as well.

Rude-boy - are you sure on that one? I think my OPC want to tap me for the cost of the check AND the warranty!

Off the top of my head, it's £200 + VAT on top of the cost of the warranty or c.£120 if you have it done at the same time as a service....

When I had mine done it was about £200+VAT plus the cost of the warranty on top of that.

Sorry if I am wrong but i am sure tht i saw it mentioned as that they would deduct the cost of the 111 check from the cost of the warrenty.

Seems that there are a fair few differences of opinion on all of this anyway so i'd just suggest calling the local OPC to get the true answer.

I really wanted to be armed with the info before I spoke to the OPC - trying to get a couple of things sorted out at the moment (including the check and warranty) - so that I knew my bargaining position!

The outcome will either result in me posting another one of the usual "Aaaargh! - ripped off again by those OPC bandits!" threads, or, more hopefully, a "Hey, OPC's aren't all bad - my local boys done me proud!" version.

I'll let you know what happens.

Having mine done tomorrow with minor service and after challenging OPC said they would do it half price - so £125.

They may do it for even less (I've had them FOC with minor services before) as most of the work involved should be done at the service anyway. Point out to them that you're having the service done, but if they also do the inspection and it passes you will buy the warranty. The temptation of an easy extra £895 going on the service receptionist's weekly figures tends to work......
