My old 996 is a magnet for infeareority complex driven chav machines that are garenteed not to be insured or MOT'd.

I am thinking of getting sign put in the back window "finished work & just want to get home".

I remember not to long ago I could only dream of owning a 911, & I used to see them next to me at the lights and think thats nice, not I bet I can beat that tosser.

yeah it's especially nice when in "finished work & just want to get home" mode and the subaru/e36 bmw is so far up your ar*e you can't see their headlights!

Unfortunatly the world is full of maxed out chavtastic piles of shite nowadays.
Okay we've all gone through the late teens just passed my test attitude loud exhaust etc, but they are a different breed now usually in some old re-mapped play station from Jap land or a saxo/corsa with a rather large unusual looking stainless drainpipe coming out the back of it and blacked out windows so you can't see their zits and yes they think they are faster and better than anything on the road, its a jealousy thing best strategy is to leave them and to it and laugh, everybody else does.

Agreed - I had one in a Mini(!?) trying to make me race in my (then) Audi S4 Bi-turbo - and I resisted the temptation to blitz them, but what do they think they look like?

Do they really think they can beat 300+ bhp?

They do annoy me now I'm afraid!

There is another way to look at it.

I grew up around sports cars, from being a baby straight out of hospital I was always only ever in exciting fun cars from MGB's to 911 2.0s and allsorts inbetween, when I started driving it was in a midget, which although had a race engine (that was about as durable as a wet tea bag under pressure) wasn't a fast car, but there are still cars that as a car enthusiast you want to get near and hear wind up as they leave villages etc, I can still remember one night chasing a 964 through a country road when we hit a long straight he flashed his hazards twice and booted it, the sound of a 911 on wind up is something else even to a kid who's grown up around them.

Few years later what did I go and buy? Yup 964.

There are some people who appreciate your cars and mean you no malice but love to hear and see them go, but there are also total prats. The hard job is telling them apart.

it's not hard to tell which type they are when they're 3 inches off your back bumper....

True words though - the appreciative young lads winding their window down so they can hear your flat-6 is a bit like the 10 year old lad on a street corner, jaw dropped, as he stares at your Porsche going past.....just like we did.

agreed, and usually the neon light show or the ten yr old bmw or subaru gives it away.

Have to say, I am commuting in a car for the first time in 15 years, and use my 944 S2 for the job. (Yes, there are others on here who will frown on such a car, but I'll go on anyway, eh?)

You do get a fair number of tw4t's trying it on, but I am rapidly learning not to bother. No, really, I'll pull aside and let them past - they know and I know that any willy-waving contest would be over pretty quickly, and I'd rather not risk the paintwork/points/burn the petrol proving something that is so clearly obvious.

(I think it was Oscar Wilde who said "Forgive your enemies. Nothing annoys them quite as much". I think it applies in such situations.)
