I had to change my battery today and now have to locate the password for the radio. (standard CDR22)
Does anyone know if theres a standard code or do I have to take it down to an OPC?

Thanks
John

I don't believe there is a standard code.

There should be a card with the code number in the owners manual wallet.

If you can't find the card, the supplying OPC may have a record of it on their computer system (I say "may" as I know my dealer has the code number but I'm not sure if all OPCs do this).

I have to give them a call Monday

You can recover the code from your local OPC. They will charge you 25 quid for the service. You need the radio serial code.

Before that check your document wallet as there may be a credit card size slip with the code in there.

Porsche may be able to tell you the code of the unit originally fitted to the car. It is possible that it has been subsequently changed. It is also possible that their data can be wrong at times.

Your best bet is to remove the unit from the car using 2 U shaped round tools (probably available from Halfords for a couple of quid). Note down the serial number of the unit and then call Putnoe Radio Service on 01429 869220. They make a nominal charge but will be able to provide the code for that particular unit.

In the meantime do re-check your history for a small silver credit card sized code card. Also check inside the service history booklet & the vehicle handbook as people sometimes write the code down in them. With the latter also check the section for decoding your stereo as people sometimes write the code there.

All the best.

You can get the unlock code over the net, but you need the model and serial number.
To remove the unit, you need two special tools, you can either use two small penknife blades, or get the tool from Halfrauds.

Or flea bay

Once removed the unit and noted the exact model and serial number, go here

Tenner well spent I believe, if you still have a problem, the guy will decode it via post.
He's near Gatwick if its easier.

I keep my code stored in my mobile phone under Becker Decode.

Didn't anyone else hear that?
I thought he went a minute ago, he must've left his keys behind.

Thanks for all the advice,

I went to Halfords and tried to remove the radio for the references required to obtain the code, unfortunately I couldn’t remove it even with the correct tools – one of the helpful members of the Halfords team tried and still I could not get it out.

Left with no other choice than to call Porsche as I think they glued it in. They asked for the chassis number and gave it to me there and then on the phone.

Result!

Thanks again
John
