Hi, An annoying rattle and attendant whistling noise at 28 - 45 mph tells me the roof needs adjusting. Last time I took it to a Porsche specialist this cost me £300. Does anyone know how to adjust this technical marvel ?

Nick,

Can't help you I'm afraid, but if you find a 993 targa roof expert please post the details.

My mate has a 993 targa and the blind has become detached from it's drive mechanism. We can't see any means of reconnecting it, and someone on Rennlist said it cost £700 to fix when the same thing happened to them.

This is one of those jobs best done by someone who has done it before a few times - because it is very difficult to understand until and unless you have one all apart and then it becomes easier.

The seals often split at the corner joint because rubber shrinks with age and they are made up like a rectangle out of seperate bits stuck together. As they shrink it pulls on the corner joint,

Adjustment at the rear is done with a very long allen key (3mm I think) and you basically lift the roof where you want it to be and do it up again. The front is a little more complicated.

Several now need adjusting and seals replacing so there must be several specialists around the Country who have done it before by now.
