For the last few years I've been using Performance Friction 97 pads for the 944 Turbo and they have always performed brilliantly. I get around 100 laps of the ring to a set.

However, they do make a mess of my wheels, and my cars paint work.

Is this something all pads do, or maybe I should clean my car more?

Any other recommendations?

So far I am massively impressed with these BHP XPS pads on me S2, you can get them from Pelican parts. To early to say how long they will last (just Bedford so far) but they are kind on the disks, don't generate huge amounts of dust and in general feel similar to stock pads just much much better.

Have you tried Porterfields? A few guys race 944S2s on these, they bed in easily and are kind to discs. I get them through my specialist, they come from the USA. You can also try Pagid blue, black, yellow and even grey. Get in touch with Questmead for details on these.

John Freeth @ Performance braking will do you a great deal on Pagids. Graham @ Fluke motorsport are also very competitive.

I use pagid Grey in the caterham, but they need some heat to work, although the PF97's I use in my clio race car are awesoem, but generate loads of dust....

Hi Fergus,

Didn't realise you had a proper cuppy, nice one!

As the PFC 97 pads on the 944 Turbo were so good I got some for the Clio too. One set of reuined wheels and a mommoth T cut session later, I thought I'd not bother with them again.

The thing I like about the pads is, I know they work well on my car - they just make a mess of it. I'd like to try pagid, but which colour......a mystery to me!

I'm off to the US next week and it would be nice to to take advantage of the USD rate.
