A friend of mine is looking to buy his first 911 and given that I have owned a few asked me to look at a car today.
In all respects the car a 2001 c4 was very good yet the clutch felt heavy compared with my car (996 TT), now i owned a 996 c4 a few years ago and can't recall if the clutch was heavier than my current car.
The car in question is a 2001 with 33k porche warranty for 7 months and as I said seems alright he is looking to bid £32k.
What do we think about the clutch, and the price, seems OK to me

I only noticed the clutch being heavy after not driving it for a week, otherwise I'd say its pretty normal..

£32k on a 2001, IMO it'd have to be very well specced for that money, esp as pre-facelift

It is a facelift car, but is pretty standard other than white dials.

I thought price seemed Ok they want £35k, so is it to much ?

Appreciate any advice

A heavy clutch can be an indication that its getting almost to the end of its life (the clutch that is) and will need replacing at some point in the near future. Dont ask me why it is but I have read on several occasions that this is the case. Someone with some tech knowledge may explain further.

The clutch on a TT is servo assisted so should always be much lighter than on other 996s.

A clutch getting heavier than normal (not sure if you have access to another similar car to compare) will require replacement at some point. Genuine unit fitted by the specialist I use is £425+VAT all in. However, if it needs a new RMS & inter shaft seal that's about another £50 and if it needs a flywheel that's another £250 or so. You can't really tell till about either until it's apart.

Hope that helps.
