Despite not rating the sat nav on the 997 I have gone and bought a retrofit kit for my non-sat nav 997.I am thinking of selling the car(probably to get a Gallardo, maybe even a Spyder) and when I advertised my car the lack of Sat Nav put people off.

Does anyone know who could fit it for me in the NW?In theory it plugs into the PCM but its bound to be a bit more involved than that and I dont want someone who doesnt know what they are doing taking my car to pieces!

A regular poster on this site is a chap with the login hughjayteens (Chris Knight)

he owns/works at prestige audio in rickmansworth - they are a car audio installation specialist

i cannot vouch for his work as i have no personal experience of them - but he seems highly regarded round these parts and is very knowledgable regarding all thinks pork nav and audio related.

he could well be your man - PM him through his profile here

Personally I'd be even less likely to buy something with a retro fit of that nature.

Why?And how would you know it had been retrofitted anyway? Many cars have items 'dealer fitted'.

I'd ask on Rennlist for more info as they tend to be more technical.

Is it an official porsche retrofit kit? If so I doubt fitting it is too hard although there is a fair chance the onboard computer/bus will need programming to recognise the unit.

Just had an ipod adapter put in my e90 3 series by BMW and whilst fitting it was easy, they are having a nightmare reflashing the idrive with the necessary software update + configuration. The onboard computer keeps crashing now...

Also try www.mercedescomand.com and get hold of Mitesh. He does mobile work exlusively reto-fitting genuine Sat Nav stuff.

Email me for their mobile numbers.
