Also posted to General Gassing but on the off chance it's something to do with Porsche brakes, which I doubt:

Gave my Boxster a good wash a couple of hours back including cleaning the wheels thoroughly and giving them a good blast with the pressure washer.

I then went out in it for a quick spin that turned into a fairly spirited drive through the local countryside, wasn't driving like a tt but was probably pushing it harder than I usually do, including the brakes.

Just got home and noticed there's a fairly thin but even band of orangey coloured sludgey stuff running the centre inside of the wheels, fronts in particular. I'm presuming this is either crap that got loosened by the wash and forced out by the drive, or it's some sort of reside from the brakes? Any suggestions as it's not something I recall seeing before?

Presumably it's nothing to worry about?

The car is a new one, used daily, only has 6k on it so the brakes/pads aren't going to be very worn.

Thanks that makes sense I was just rather shocked at how much of it there seems to be!

This will sound very sad but it's still quite hard to get my head around the fact that however hard I will be able to drive this thing on the public roads the car will always be capable of taking a lot more than I can give it - bloody thing just keeps me grinning like a maniac :-)
