I am currently looking for a 964 ( my first toe dipping into the Porsche world after years of having my nose pressed against the shop window), I have read the buyers guides in 911 & PW and info. on the web (lots of 'opinions' there), and the general concensus is it doesn't matter whether it is a C2 or C4 as long as it is a goodun. I understand that a C2 will be a little more driver orientated but have read that a lowered C4 will be nearly as good with all the benefits when the heavens open.

My question is: come resale time which is going to be easier to sell. I never used to worry about this sort of thing, just had fun and worried about selling when the time came- must be getting old.

Well in my experience rain etc are fine in the c2, the only time I miss a C4 is icy mornings and snow, but since having been sensible and using winter tyres the c2 is transformed again.

The 964 C4 was renowned for its understeer, although there are mods that can improve this.

However, IMO, a good C2 is the better choice - lighter, quicker, less complex, nicer steering and purer handling.

Groebuck - I think you've answered your own question! If the car is a good one, it won't matter if it's a 2 or a 4, it'll sell.

I think you answered your own question before you asked it.......

Seriously though, neither will be a problem to sell on, although a Tip gearbox would be less desirable. Likewise but less so a Targa roof or convertible, although if you like either of these don't let the resale ability put you off, get it because you want it and will enjoy it.

Best 964 to look for would probably be a 92/93 C2 5-spd coupe.

I suggest a C2 - I drove loads of each type, including a very late Celebration C4. The C2 just feels a bit "peppier", and is quicker through the corners IMO. Mine's for sale, I've been very honest in the description (perhaps too honest) and it needs to go to fund an extension. www.pistonheads.com/sales/123769.htm
