Engine bits / suppliers....anyone know good ones?
Discussion
Hi folks,
Just preparing for the next project, it's likely that I'll be rebuilding the top end of a 3.0 944s2 engine as the timing chain has snapped.
I'm not sure of the extent of damage but the engine has done a toe curling 205k so would benefit from being taken to bits for a good nosey. I'm not scared of miles especially on a porsche engine. It has been looked after (I think)
While I'm in there it would make sense giving it a little more oomph, so any ideas received with open ears.
Unfortunately it isn't a turbo, but from what I've read the 3.0 s2 is the most satisfying engine.
So, having never attacked a 3.0 944 engine, I'm wondering who is the best supplier of bits.
Euro car parts stock 944 bits, I've used porsh-apart when I had my previous 944's, but can anyone recommend anyone else, or know where a decent S2 Engine may be lurking.
Thanks folks
Mike.

Not 944 specific, but for general parts, I've used Van Zeeden in Holland. Service is good and they are very helpful.
I have a complete 78k 968 engine for sale just pulled from my car after I fitted a new turbo engine, it may work out quite good value for you when you cost out the top end rebuild parts. I would also give you some trade in for your S2 engine as I may be able to use the crank for another project...? email me if your interested zen10103@zen.co.uk
