Looking at a '91 964 in Dubai, which was imported from Germany in 1997.

Have downloaded a buyer's guide from 911 Secrets revealed, but any advice on particular issues to be aware of would be appreciated.

Should I be concerned about the cooling system - water cooled Gulf spec cars have an upgraded radiator and cooling system - what would be the equivalent mod to an aircooled 911?

cheers

I guess if you find where to put any coolant you'd better give me a shout. I haven't put any in mine since I got it 5 years ago.....

Seriously.

things you should be aware of, Dual mass flywheel can go if not an LUK variant. Oil leaks can be a little problem, barrel to head can leak a little if gasketless. front wishbones can go, though this is rare, go for a leakdown test, it'll give an indication of the state of wear on the valve guides and sets, they may have worn badly if the cars been in the gulf a while...

Change the dizzy belt and add a dizzy vent kit. If you don't you will most likely enjoy a top-end rebuild during your ownership.

yeah sorry, I was being irreverent....

You may also want to get the hammer to read all the stored fault codes.......just to see what's stored.

Check under the luggage lid to see the options list and check to see it all adds up, paint codes etc etc.

check if the offset numbers are near the valves on the wheels, if they are they are genuine, if not the are copies, not a problem, but it allows negotiation on price.

Ask for history, and see what's been done, IIRC there's one recall for a steering joint fault on some welding AT07 he said confidently.

Nothing else springs to mind..at the mo'
