This is a quicky..My 997 has been tucked up since November and I want to drop the oil/filter this month. Shall I do it cold as its showing being slightly over full on the dash read out, I assume because all the oil is in the sump now. Or shall I warm her up and then drain? Is it to straight forward to think that all the oil in the sump now (cold) = any metal fillings etc in the sump/filter also, so do it while cold??
Any thought? I want to rip the filter and check the oil for any lurking nasties..Thanks guys

Send it to the OPC for a simple job like this. When i supplied my own oil the bill came to a mere 50 squid.

If you do prefer to do it yourself, don't forget to purchase a replacement copper crush washer and torque to the correct amount.

The system holds 9.5 litres but only takes 7 and 3 quarters when refilling if you also change the filter.

So which ever way you do it, 1 - 2 litres is staying in the system anyway.

You are only changing 75% of the oil.

Thanks atm I didnt know that! Where does the other two litres hide then?
I will fill with 6 litres and use the dash read out to top up. I am going to drain it overnight, it does seem odd that a full change is not possible. Maybe a flush Oil? Maybe not?.
Thanks anyway everyone..

Fill with 5 and then check the display cold. Top up half a litre at a time. Putting it in is far easier than getting it out.

With the filter change I just put all 8 litres in. Now my dash display does show me as over filled. Engine been running fine with no smoke or misfiring.
