Encouraged by the constant reminders of how cheap the 996 is, I thought I’d sell the Cayman S and get a cheaper 996. Trouble is all the decent stuff seems to be 25K+
Sure you can pick up a legged 98 reg. up for about 20K or less in sliver, but
I’m after a C2 manual, post 99 Reg. Ideally metallic black with dark interior.

Not many about?

Who wants to sell there black C2 manual?

I'll give more than the dealers will

summed up nicely...

as much as the scaremongers will have you believe, the only sub 25k 996's are high milers, some (if your lucky) that have been looked after, but most will be dogs.

You can find them, but you really need to comprimise on colour/spec/mileage if you stand any chance of getting anywhere near a decent 996 at the 25k mark.

Just bought one. £22K with full years OPC warranty. See it here (about a year ago). I think buying in the dead of winter and agreeing a price over the phone helped on price.

www.pdjcars.com/details/pdj001.php

Obviously highish mileage 72,000 and questionable colour for the purists (savannah interior), but apart from that as a 1st time Porsche owner, I'm loving it. I read a post about having a warranty and 'driving it like I stole it' so I am and it's great. The only other thing which isn't right is air con seems weak, but if a warranty fault will be FOC.

Looks like a good price despite the interior, nice to see it's still listed as "Current Stock"

As you mentioned, colour is not for the purist, hence the price. I don't think it looks bad on the pics but always found savannah in the flesh too yellowish for my liking. Most important thing is that you're happy with it.driving

NOW HEAR THIS. NOW HEAR THIS.

There is no such thing as a cheap 996.

Piss poor hammered dogs are available from £20k.

Well maintained minters with OPC warranty still fetch strong money.

Witness thee the 2000 W 996 at Henry's gaff.

Green with savannah. £29,995.

I'm quite new to the model, but isn't the green car a C4 (worth a couple of thousand more) and wouldn't the previous owner have sold for about 5K less than Henrys price?

Err, what's wrong with a high mileage 996, I thought one of the strengths of Porsches was they were reliable. Low mileage maybe more desirable but to write off all cars with more than 60K on the clock as dogs seems a little extreme.

Lots of people will have used a 996 as their primary car, so 10K miles a year wouldn't be shocking. As these cars are pproaching 9 years old mileages of 70-90K don't seem unreasonable. Some bargains to be had if you can look past the mileage.

Ocean with Savannah looks great in the flesh and I certainly had no problem selling mine (via SOR through RSJ).

Green with savannah however is the kiss of death!
