Have OPC lost there mind?
Discussion
Still on the lookout for a 996 and almost choked on my morning coffee when i saw the price of this 2003 OPC 996?
Porsche Centre Wilmslow
2003 52reg C4 Convertible
33,062 miles
Lapis Blue
Petrol
Cabriolet
£33,500
I have still to call to confirm the price as it does seem to good to be true UNLESS its an LHD or Porsche are trying to get rid of stock before the March rush of trade-ins for a new 997????

I cant imagine an OPC would retail a LHD car.
As for the price, I think its wrong.
Whilst cars of this ilk sell at indies for 35 - 37k, an OPC would want 39 - 42k minimum for this car
wouldnt even surprise me to learn they wanted 43 rather than 33k.
as an example, my local OPC has a 51 plate facelift boggo C2. interior spec is OK its tip and has an almost unbelieveable 10000 miles from new.
When bearing in mind other similar aged cars are retailing at indies for 32 to 35k the OPC price?
£41995!!!

Interestingly on their website, they don't have any 996s for sale apart from a Turbo Cab. The price still looks wrong, but maybe they don't do 996s via their showroom anymore and are just trying to sell it off for what they bought it.
edited to add:
Sorry they do have one 996 for 43k, which makes me think they got the first digit wrong on this one ...

Just Called - Apparently it is a car that they are sending to auction and for some reason there system is intwined with autotrader so it will show on the Autotrader website even though they are actually NOT selling it??? APPARENTLY
Makes you question:
Why they are not selling it themselves?
Has it got a problem that they are not willing to fix, RMS etc, etc?
Does each dealer have to keep there prices inflated?
They just dont like having Lapis Blue Convertible 996's in there stock????
Why not just lie to me and say it was a typeing error?

Find out which auction it's going to. Get yourself along and bid £33whatever the price was. Chances are that is the reserve they've sent it off with so you know exactly what you can get it for

Judging by the rest of their stock, they don't really do 996s it *seems*. So they'll just flog it off for roughly what they bought it. No point spending time on it to make 1-2k when they can make 5-6k on the ones sold via the showroom. In fact they probably got it as a px, made 6k on the 997 they sold, if they can sell this for flat with no hassle they'd probably be happy.
Disclaimer:
This is purely obeservational and nothing to do with any kind of debate on the merits of 996s

I wonder if you could point us in the direction of some `01-51 facelift 10,000 miles cars currently for sale with independent specialists at £32k. Or even £35k for that matter !
I`m not going to defend a main dealer but don`t sensationalise. Before you know it you lot are going to convince yourselves good facelift 996`s are £30k !

OK my 996 facelift has now got 49k on the clock, but it has a full OPC history and a top spec (Bose/heated seats/ali gearleaver/handbrake/door guards/sport design wheels) and apart from the usual front PU that needs painting its in very good nick.
The same OPC trade in value for the car in exchange for a '52 turbo?
Yep £24k.......

Yeah, they bid me £20k for mine against a Turbo.
All this while they are retailing similar cars for £33k...............
Fvck 'em, I'm keeping it and joining Ecurie25.
My next car will be a 993 from Henry bought at the bug price, then I'm going to join Baz's LMP.

A triffle harsh! Although if they were hoping for £10k accross the old girl they weren`t too far off the mark.
