hi guys, i have an antique Porsche radio system on the car. however, everytime you start the car, you have to key in the anti-theft code again. is there a memory battery for the system that needs to be replaced ?

How long has it been fitted? Sound like it's been wired in wrong - it will have a permanent live (to retain the memory etc and therefore not need de-coding) and an ignition switched live. If both are wired to the ignition instead (i.e. wrong) all power is lost when the ignition is switched off, resulting in the problem you have.

check that both the yellow and red cables are connected

red is perm live (should have a fuse) and yellow is ignition

I'd go with both of the above.

What do you mean by "Antique"? A really old radio on a really old porsche, or just original-fit on your (delicious) 993?

thanks guys, i should have stated properly. it is a Porsche "labelled" hifi system CR-10, fitted on a 1995 p993. ( hence, not an antique )

it should have a connection block on the back of it, unless the P/O put a replacement headunit in there and cut it off
