The question says it all, I'm on the hunt for a 997S (black would be a bonus).

Wot kind of age, spec should i be looking for for around £55-£58k ?? Coming from Aberdeen there's not to many on the go up here 2nd hand so I'll have to travel down south to get one. Should i buy from an OPC? or private?

I just paid a bit more (but less than £60k) for mine. 15k, 05/05, with SatNav, phone, heated sports seats, sunroof, Bose and park assist from an OPC. £55k would probably have got the same car privately or perhaps £57k from an indy.

£48-£52 would get you a 2004 (54) 997S, 19k miles with low spec from either private or indy if negotiate and no Part/Ex. My old silver model is available whilst on SOR with a Stratstone dealer. Car is in Leeds, email me if interested. Would benefit from a sports exhaust (Offical recomended). Chees Sagman.

Sebsea,

I'm also up in Aberdeenshire and it's fair to say there isn't much on the go up here other than Aberdeen T&C OPC and occasionally Morrisons at Turriff.

I went down to Kenny Dunn in Edinburgh, good guy, knows his stuff and his prices are "just" sub OPC. He is ex edinburgh OPC and has a long history before that dealing in nice motors in the central belt. He isn't the cheapest, you'd definitely save more by travelling down further south but I can vouch for his stock being top notch when I was looking around it. He also offers a discounted OPC warranty/inspection package at an offset cost if you don't want his warranty (I went this route - £500 for inspection and warranty). Although given the market your in you will be getting one still under the new car warranty. I bought my 02 996 from him last year and it was a pleasant enough experience!

I had a quick browse onto his website and he's got a silver 05 997 with 9K up and a reasonable spec for 54K but it's a non-S. Might be worth giving him a call with what you're looking for and see what he can do.

Where exactly do you get these prices from.
Is it another planet as i havent seen a 3.8 997 under £54000 on auto trader
People like you just undermine the market with BS information

Before slagging him off Mr Klump why not check our very own PH classifieds?

One 997S 54 plate at £48k (guards red mind you) and three more at £53-54K (more saleable black/grey) which would probably go for an offer of £52k.

I have got a lovely 997 C2s in Basalt Black 05/05 with Nav/Phone, Electric Seats, Dimming mirrors, Multi Func wheel, and a few other bits and bobs, done 15k. I do work for a main dealer so don't flame me down!!:-) we have it up at 61,995 but can talk a deal on it. As mentioned before you will not IMO anyway find a 05/05 or newer for the 55k mark, I just can't but them for that money! Need to have my 10K margin across them

My Jan 05 997S (Black/black) would sell for 51k if someone wanted it. 2 years old and 19k miles with just a couple of options and the very desirable Tubi and -20mm/lsd suspension.

So how can anyone think they are not for sale at that price?

sounds nice - does it have nav and bose?

It does not need Bose as the upgraded as standard sound system in a 997 is far superior to the one you get in say a Boxster or the old 996. I always wondered why people wanted Bose and I found out this week while trying a Boxster S and its tinny sound system. The difference in the standard system in a 997 and the bose is negligible however.

Nav it does not have but that can be retrofitted but I just prefer a tom-tom as I use other cars as well.

I'm on my second 997S, try and the sports chrono, and sports seats.
Id say you'd get a 54 or an 05 plate car with 14-20K depending on the dealer....Dont bother with the multi=function steering wheel to much hassle!
