My driver's window has packed up!

Or rather, the switch has. I think it may have come loose in its mount - it doesn't "rock" properly, so I'm guessing it's not making contact with the switch underneath that operates the window.

Anyone had the same problem? If so, did it need a new switch, or is it just a case of re-seating the existing one. I noticed there's one on ebay for £20 or so, so at least it shouldn't be too expensive to sort! Anyone have any idea on how hard it is to either replace or re-seat the switch?

If all else fails, it's going to Mike at Sports and Classic for its 48K service in a couple of weeks time so I'll get him to sort it for me.

Yup its a niggle, 964 has the same prob, basically one of the small plastic pins that the rocker pivots on will have broken.

You should be able to use the switch with care, push it in to the same position it should be in and gently push up or down, but basically it needs a new one.

Easy to change yourself, just gently pop it out with a flat bladed screw driver, pop the switch off the wiring plug, put the new one in and away you go.

Happens,, lever it out and swap the switch over with the one next to it that operates the pasenger window,,,you probably use this one less(?) takes a couple of minutes to do.

Great - thanks gents thumbup

It sounds pretty straightforward, and something that even some of my very limited technical nous should be able to sort!

Hey LL, how does your spoiler sound?

Graunchy as hell? If so then the old spoiler bearing change is the most satisfying home fix this side of a Kate Moss date.

By the way, are you a genuine legal advisor? A Renault Megane drove through my dining room wall the other day and I could do with some tips re the insuance claim.

Can't say I've noticed it making any noise at all, to be honest! It pops up fairly quietly when operated from the switch and I've not yet worked out at what speed it pops up when driving (yeah, I know - RTFM! rolleyes biglaugh ) so I guess I needn't worry about this particular fix - yet!

I'm a commercial litigation lawyer so may be able to give you a few general pointers with your claim - feel free to e-mail me via my profile.

If your spoiler goes down silently when you come to a halt then you have a very rare 993 indeed. Most sound like a bag of old nails. Well done sir on your fine selection skills.

And you have mail by the way.
