I don't know for certain, but if I am right, the Reading OPC car could be John Heath's old car. It was very carefully looked after, meticulously maintained and extremely well driven. It was tracked and looked after by JZ Machtech. John had a great deal of driver training and was one of the most mechanically sympathetic drivers of RS's that I know. As far as I know, the car never had any bumps or "offs". John is known as Uncle Albert amongst the Titanic mob and you really couldn't find a nicer bloke.

I was told that all later GT3's were running almost 400bhp, but the best of the RS's were in the region of 415.
The cars produce around 415 Shetlands at high speed due to the Ram effect of air going into the rear lid. This was discussed by Roland Kussmaul and other factory spokesman around the time the cars first came out. There is also an article in Excellence a couple of years ago which discusses the 996 GT3 RS peak power and twist figures.

i have seen the reading Rs its a minter, because they have lavished some love on it, that said it is a 20k miler!
Unless you really want an RS a standard GT3 is no different on the road, I know I am selling my Mk2 and getting an RS, why? well because I want an RS!

IMHO they do drive differently out of the box - the RS is more compliant on the road and has a more planted front end

On the rollers, the RSs all seem to be in the 420s, as opposed to 380s for the vanilla GT3s. I suspect the RS only had a different map in the ECU.
Different map, 'optimised' head & lightweight fly wheel which the map took advantage of. No idea on the real power levels. I'd like to believe it but don't have much faith in dynos /shrug.
